    I see morale is dipping.

If it's true the album is done and won't be released until October, then I doubt we will hear any official announcements for another couple of months. Hang in there troops......

Quite possible 2007/8 tour was purely a one and done deal, but with future options (albums, tours, etc...) at the sole discretion of the Dutch Pricks... contingent on Dave's public "gag-order" for a specific period of time. He talks... all bets are off. May even have to forfeit previous earnings.

Reason I suspect this... is the pure angst and hatred the brothers have shown towards Mike & Hagar. Fueled by their continued public commentary on the band VH. Ed wants full cuntrol or else...
I don't think there's any gag order from the brothers. I believe Dave has chosen to gag himself - due to the sensitivity of working with EVH.

I remember Dave had a lot to say before the last tour (Rolling Stone, LA Times) and at the press conference he did most of the talking.

I think it's just a tactic on his part. Look at all the crap coming from Hagar in the last few weeks. Dave could have destroyed/exposed him in one interview with the LA Times, on behalf of the brothers and everyone who loves CVH. But he's chosen to stay silent and let the idiot hang himself.

          Sadly, I wouldn't.

The reality of Roth's contemporary drawing power as a solo act vs. being a part of Van Halen is a humbling one. His last several solo discs sold next to nothing - what, maybe 50,000 copies - and he couldn't consistently fill venues with capacities as small as 2,500 seats on his last series of solo gigs. It's like Hardrock69 said, Roth can go back to this type of waning career strategy or he can front a band filling 15,000 + seat arenas and make serious bank.

I'd agree with Halen High that it might not even be a gag order keeping Roth from giving interviews, but rather Roth being smart enough to realize that if he stays silent then it eliminates the chance of being misquoted and causing friction. Roth also knows the value of myths. I mean, as much as some us might lament there not being a Behind The Music or Some Kind Of Monster-style documentary about the band, it's quite possible what we imagine happening behind the scenes is a lot more interesting than the reality (or at least the present-day reality; to have been a fly on the wall for some of the CVH-era backstage activities probably would have been QUITE interesting).

In some respects, considering the day and age we're in when seemingly every celebrity willingly runs out and discloses every single detail about themselves to the nearest camera crew they can find, Van Halen's silence is kind of refreshing, actually. Plus, if there's nothing happening on the musical front, there's really nothing to fucking talk about anyway.

It might be that he doesn't want to get bit again like the 96 fiasco and isn't going to speak until it is an absolute done deal. If they are still recording or even down to the mixing stage, there is always that chance of the project getting shelved over hurt feelings. Whatever may be the case, i'm sure Dave is writing it all down because there has to be sequel to his book given what went down with the 2007 tour. If nothing else ever happens, he must come out with details of his and the brothers' relationship from the rebuilding to the touring with Wolfie in the band and whatever else he observed along the way.

I'd really be much more interested in reading a lengthy Roth interview that concentrates on the 2006-Present reunion than see a proshot live concert from that tour. That's what it's come to with this band; the soap opera is now more interesting than the music.

The lack of basically any interviews in the last 3 years that isn't related to hawking guitars is unbelievable to me....

It's pretty unlikely that anything Van Halen come up with at this point is going to be better than midgets racing a camel.

And I'm absolutely sure Roth would back me up on that.
