A few years ago, a few days after Dave did Carson's show, I met Carson at his sister's wedding. I figured I would strike up some small talk. I mentioned that I worked for a TV station that he once interned at. I mentioned that his boss there at the time could be a real ass, but he didn't make any negative comments (maybe he was worried about looking bad).
Later that night my wife said to Carson in passing, "Saw David Lee Roth on your show, it was great". Carson replied sarcastically, "David Lee Roth, what a nut job!"
Now, if anyone has seen that episode of Carson's show, you can tell that Daly can't hang with anyone that displays any wit or says anything that you may have to think about for a second or two before you get it. He was even giving Dave attitude at the end of the show because Dave wanted to encore with "Panama" even though there wouldn't be enough time to finish the song.
Daly is the next Dick Clark, but I think he is just a dick, at least as far as his treatment of Dave.

Heh...I remember Ray talking about how incredibly loud they played at that show. I think Dave scared poor little Carson with the big volume. Fuck him...best guest he's ever had, and he should be thankful that Dave even considered going on that program. The thing with Daly...he didn't have control of the interview with Dave, and I would say that pissed him off. Dave controls ALL of his interviews, and talks about what HE wants to, not what some fuckwad interviewer wants.

thats the only good part about his show is that he gives newer bands or bands that arent normally on TV a chance...granted its at 2.30 in the fuckin mornin but he usually has some pretty solid musical guests...you just have to listen to his drivvel for a while

Dave ruled that show and almost took the show over for good. carson was affraid he was gonna lose the show, he lost it that night. dave was the man that night and carson was mad cause dave wouldnt let him have a word and everyone there dug dave!
