I'm more intrigued by what Wolfie's back ground vocals will be like.

It's clear that his playing has progressed, I hope his singing has too.

        greetings chelle, long time fan.

didn't wolf sing 'the middle' that time he played drums with those dudes? i reckon he'll sing ok.

we have to remember this is a new band with new songs... well, newish but the bassist is certainly new and i'm predicting he does a top job.

5 years ago he wasn't ready but they were still charging top dollar to see it.

          He is now.

            Exactly.

And WOLF deserves a whole cheering thread!

Can you imagine from Ed's point of view. There would be nothing better than sitting down with his son and creating, throwing ideas back and forth, recording and performing music for Van Halen
I really love you baby, I love what you've got

One important thing to remember is that Ed loathed MA. Even if Mike's playing was completely up to snuff from an objective standpoint, Ed was likely to supplant him just for the sake of doing so, or out of spite.

As we all know, family is very important to EVH - especially his little 3:16. As long as Wolf can handle it - and by all indications coming out of Cafe Wha?, he can - I'm sure that Ed has been happy to defer the low-end duties to his progeny.

Chelle, here is a clip that strongly emphasizes the bass:

I think Wolfie had a huge hand in the making of this album. I bet he helped write most of the songs.

I think it was EVH's struggle with cancer that really set this all in motion.....

Remember...he nearly lost that battle....which I believe (and rightfully so) made him want to spend as much time with his kid as he can RIGHT FUCKING NOW....

And, as was rightly pointed out above, he has tried to replace "Hot-sauce" numerous times in the past.........

                      (A)ware Wolf

Boy am I impressed with Wolf. Forget the backing vocals for a minute. This kid chose NOT to play guitar, instead stay true to his body type and pick up the bass (just needs a mullet to complete the look )
He's obviously listened to the back catalogue, decided that, YES, Dave Roth is Van Halen. He's learnt to PLAY THE MUSIC, which is pretty fucking hard.
He's helped his old man and uncle get back into things.
I hope he's getting a real kick outta this.
I think he deserves a big thanks.

I wanna hear some quotes (he's got to be shy being Ed's son) from the young dude. What does he really think of Up For Breakfast? What's his favourite CVH tune? Who are his influences on the bass? What's his drug of choice? What side of the bed does he get out of in the morning? I know squat about The Wolf. What's he like? Anybody got any ideas?

Have nothing bad to say about the kid. He pushed his dad to make the right move and call Dave. And for that I salute him.

                            YES!

The entire Van Halen community owes him a big chunk of serious gratitude.

                            Thanks Wolf. You rule.

What makes it even better the way I look at it Wolf was around sammy more growing up and still he know just by going through his dads catalog that the true VH is the ROTH years.
I remember reading in guitar world wolf saying something along the lines of 'the old stuff rocks and never gets old" cool kid in my book!

Wolf's #1 contribution is that if he wasn't playing there would probably not be a band. Getting to play with him is the reason Eddie agreed to do it. Dave was smart enough to agree to it.
