Someone on the youtube vid of YRGM just posted this to my question about what was Dave standing on center stage:

"No it was actually a section of hard wood flooring that they talced up before the show so he could slide around."

He wasn't the uploader of the video so for what its worth.

Ha! You got me. But I didn't really mean that the headset thing was uncool 'cos Justin Timberlake does it - it just suits his kinda performance.

I hate saying anything negative right now, 'cos I'm so elated that they are back and have probably just made one of their best albums.

Maybe I'm a head-in-the-sand fool, and the show will pan out just great with Dave doing it this way. Or maybe it just takes a bit of gettin' used to ... but, on the other hand, I just think if it does end up as the way he performs the whole show, we might all be hanging around here in 4 or 5 years goin' - "oh, yeah - remember the tour where Dave had the headset? What the hell was he thinking of ... "

I hear you...I will be curious to learn why he chose the headset. I am thinking we will know at some point and it will make sense.

Before I come off as bitching, let me preface this by saying that as long as Dave is in Van Halen he can do whatever the fuck he wants. It’s Dave. The album rocks, we got a tour, it’s all good.

That being said, I’ve always associated headsets to the Brittneys and Lady Gagas and such. You know, a lip syncing tool. Granted, if you play a guitar that may not be the case, but everyone you see using them very much relies on the lip syncing. Thus my concern. Also, Dave twirls a mic stand. Dave makes love to it. Dave pretends it’s his dick to the womens in the crowd. THAT’S AWESOME! You can’t do that with a headset.

I trust in Dave to do the right thing, one way or the other, but I don’t really like the headset.
