I think Ed's genuinely thrilled to play with Wolf, and after hearing the bass KILLING IT on the record I can see why. As for Dave, Dave has ALWAYS brought Ed up, like the hero that drags the friend into danger severe enough that the friend too has to be supremely on point to rise to the occasion. Add Wolf's perspective of being able to enjoy many bands and new technology, and yet his instant meshing with his own musical family...I think for Ed it is an extension of the way seeing his boys made Jan feel. No doubt no one's perfect, but Wolf's addition is a deep thing to Ed.
Dave brought his hero's A-game with those lyrics and performance. Everyone knows. And watching the video where Dave interviews the brothers was a cool thing. I think they know another album will make more money, especially after a great one we just got. Even more though, I myself never tire of hearing my bandmate's new song ideas, or revamping a rough version of some really cool song we had lying dormant. Nothing is that fun. They want that fun most of all. The three will jam a ton, and Dave will own the songs again. I hope next time the fellas make a record that might be heavy or softer, but is even more outside than this amazing album is.
I just don't get how this doesn't continue and fruitfully so. Hell, after hearing how uplifting feeling Me Wise Magic was compared to the mediocrity of the Spam years, I just don't get how Ed & Al went a third way to a "straining to sing" guy from Baaaston. Sorry Extreme and all other rock bands...I can't see your stars when the sun is burning my eyes.
I'm absolutely blown away by the new album, and I'm so happy for the fellas. I listen to a lot of different music, but Roth VH is the only band that even matters when they come out of hibernation. Been that way for a long, long year.
