Don't get me wrong, I luv the ability now to see vids of live performances now on the Net. but they do not do justice to the actual performance. One can look at a painting on the computer monitor, and it really gives no real indication of the actual physical painting when seen in person. Dave is a crazy creative work of art in his own right. Let's face it, some people have stage presence and some do not. It is that vibe you feel first hand when you go to the show. A video just cannot capture the essence of Dave in person. I have already heard many people who have been to the recent performances go "it was so much better in person, the video does it no justice"
It is hard to explain because you cannot write about what you cannot see but you definitely feel when there in the flesh. Simply, you cannot get that vibe from the video recordings and it is just as important as Dave's unique style and voice. Dave has 'it', and it always makes me laugh when I see people judge certain aspects critically of Dave from a tape when if they where there in person...they would get freight trained by the 'it' Dave has. Been telling people I know who never saw Roth live, to just get the ticket and do not make assumptions from Youtube that what they see meekly on the monitor is the experience. Most who go to a Roth led concert, end up a fan for life.
