Agree somewhat - although the album really kicks in for me at You And Your Blues and doesn't let up until the end - including Big River - which I think is one of, if not THE best track on the album. This guy smacks of someone who thinks himself a little too important for classic Van Halen, he's got his old REM albums to cling to and maybe a new U2 in the future.

I don't understand all the shit on Tattoo. It's a great tune! Filled with the fun and joy of Van Halen. However, I do agree that the first four songs, as great as they are, they are no first four of WACF and I. But what is? So they only lack something cuntpared to the absolute best of Van Halen. Does it mean they somehow suck? HELL NO!

Big River and Stay Frosty on the other hand REWL!!!

Its a confusing review, it starts like he is a total ass hat without a clue then he totally gets it , i understand how people dont dig tattoo but she's the woman rocks and you and your blues is cool to...... guess any body who doesnt think this album is 100% killer is never gonna be on my wave length and can basically suck a fart out of my arse !!!

Agree. The album is solid - all kill, no fill - to my ears. Tattoo got some major league playing time for me before the ADKOT release, so it tends to get skipped now, but still a great pop song. My thoughts on STW are over at the DLR/VH songs thread. Love the music, don't love the way Shanks recorded Dave. The next eleven songs are ball busters, and anyone finding fault with Big River simply don't remember Van Halen from their glory days, or can't admit it without worrying about pissing off their Adele-loving editor.
