What is "Brown Sound" I Always Hear Referenced About EVH

Well I've never seen one, and the last time I asked the question I was at DDLR. In fact, I am not the one who asked the question THIS time. So there.

I always say to hear the Brown Sound, listen to the first TWO VH albums.

That is the guitar sound we all talk about when using that term.

For me, the brown sound is all over Fair Warning and Diver Down in general, on "Hear About It Later" and the opening bits of "Little Guitars" (after the flamenco part ends where Al's drums start up, when Ed kicks in on top of them with that weird, chuggy riff) in particular.
