Heh heh... Still reading it - a few pages every day. They have no idea it's Dave - think it's Hemingway or something (I started on the chapter 'Travels With Dave.')

Lmao, that's freaking awesome and hilarious at the same time

Especially when you consider that he references the band Van Halen, the year 1979, Club Med in the eighties, cassette tapes, and AIDS. Kids these days have no idea - they think this is eons ago - real Huck Finn material. Priceless.

I need to go back & read this again... hard to believe it's been almost 15 years since I read it when it first came out! It blew my mind at the time.

Maybe Dave should write the Crazy From The Heat Vol II.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I'd buy & read it immediately.

The Tao of Dave... I'm still waiting to read it.

Wouldn't mind reading the 700 pages that were scrapped from the first book also.

An interesting chapter would be the Sam & Dave 2002 tour. Another interesting chapter:"The history behind the many attemps and the final return to classic VH"

Well I just got a copy from Ebay. I'm a lifelong VH fan since 1981, but there was a period from about 1995-2002 that I lost touch w VH...so never picked up this book.

I've just barely skimmed the book so far. The writing seems pretty great to have these stories from Dave, but also I'd love a little more storytelling about specific times and tours in VH history. Wanna hear from the band themselves like.... "I remember when we were recording Fair Warning...etc, etc..." I guess there's some of that in here from my quick skimming.

Also read thru the photo/section in the middle and was a little surprised he captioned some of the photos w the incorrect dates. There are 2 shots of Pretty Woman video where he puts '80, that's an obvious mistake. And then one live shot clearly in 1980 WACF Tour...but he has captioned 1981.

I am sure with all the off the wall crazyness Dave has had it all gets a little fuzzy sometimes

Exactly, DB. And the true band nerds are always going to remember the factoids better than the dudes who lived it.

As far as recording sessions go, I've always had the impression that Dave likes to maintain a little mystery about it - with Van Halen anyway.

Particularly if your name is Keith Richards!
