At least the place where the Us was held was actually designed for such events. It's a regular concert venue now. Having music festival at race tracks (like Altamont and Ontario motor speedway) and other places that are not set up for such things ( add Yasgurs farm) usually turn out bad for many of the concert goers.

Alberta jam I was at the racetrack. A NASTY storm came through. It was brutal...nowhere to take cover and when you have golf ball size hail hitting a bone dry dirt track you end up with mud spraying everywhere. When I got home my dad wanted to know who had beat me up...I was covered in bruises from the hail.

You would be shit out of luck at Glen Hellen, the place they had the Us if that happened there. Football stadiums offer some shelter in the event of storms. I've been to a few music festivals at football stadiums too. The drawback with them is they are designed to accomadate whatever the seating capacity is but when you fill up the field with people too the lines for food, drink and the restrooms get pretty long.

Just an aside as this IS the current US Fest thread and I DID just receive a stellar version of the show in the mail...

          DONNIEP is the fucking man!

Thanks dude for hooking a brother up (with this show and too many more to count). Zing! is about to go into another beer-soaked VH extravaganza this weekend courtesy of the Big D!

          Thanks man! Drinks on me!

My karma just ran over your dogma.

No shit. I got crushed against the front of the stage during Ozzy's set, got fucking soaked, got pulled over the wall, lost my buddy's camera, got separated from my crowd, wandered around, got sunburnt as fuck, found my crowd, drunk over a half bottle of Southern Comfort, later on sobered up a little, froze my ass off when the sun went down because i looked like a lobster, started drinking again during the Scorpions' set, and enjoyed the hell out of VH, drunk or not. Also slept off the booze that night in the parking lot on a car hood. Still one of the best shows I've ever been too.

Damn, I just finished burning another copy of this show for a brother here. And of course I have to watch it to make sure there's no glitches. Every time I watch it I just cannot believe how good it is. Ah, it's a hell of a job checking all these bootleg copies but somebody's gotta do it
