Someone know the chords to this song? I got a few of 'em but am too much of a novice to get them all by ear.

I have one pair of the old school round lens metal framed ones left. They don't make them anymore. I still have my funky white Vaurnet glacier glasses from the 80's. I found those tucked away in some old ski boots. They look like something Willy Wonka would wear. LOL!No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Few lyrics I'm not sure of
Prophets in day (?)
Need no mountain
Ain't no mountain 'round here
Sit quiet by the river
Life, I'm told
What river?
You show me where
Some live life from the bible
They breathe righteous air
Some learned life in high school
I did not learn life there
I watch the parade go by
Like most folks 'round here
From my one piece-thermo moulded country plastic chair
I like the green ones
Not the ones that look like wood
The white ones make me feel tropical
Basic model's still good
From Trenton to Tahiti
From Encino to the 'hood
Those common objects, in the noonday sun
....................(?)
Rare regrets, I actually missed
Couple of dames should have tried to kiss
No real disappointment persists
or darkens my door there
I rule fairly
over my kingdom
From my one piece-thermo molded country plastic chair
Grab a plate, get yourself a drink
Sit yourself down here
Come and watch the world drift by
From my one piece-thermo molded country plastic chairLast edited by Yount; 11-05-2012, 04:25 AM.Comment

My ears are shot, but it sounds like this to me:
Prophets today need no mountain -
Ain't no mountain 'round here.
Sit quiet by the river of life, I'm told
What river? You show me where.

Am curious to Dave's thought process to why he has released it the way he has. Its a great tune I would have bought it ( am a fan so i guess thas obvious) but he hasnt released it as a charity single or even just a dave single. It just seems to good a tune to just throw out there .Unless its just a little treat for the fans.
I know he couldnt release material with out ed having a wobble but it he is obviously recording stuff and has his juices flowing ith talk of an aciustic cd in the can etc.
That kinda leads me on to the next point when was it actually recirded any ideas ?fuck your fucking framingComment

I was thinking the same thing. Wonder what DLR's thought process was for release of this track. Not to take anything away from the tune, which is one of the best songs I've heard this year by ANY recording artist - or to question Dave's motivation or sincerity - but I suppose he was torn between seeming opportunistic by grabbing some headlines at the expense of the hurricane victims, and appeasing Ed (we all know the history there with outside projects). In the end, I suppose he went about it the right way - I would rather hear the song than not (although I would have gladly paid for it if it were a charitable single). My karma just ran over your dogma.Comment

His voice is so beautiful when he's not trying to force a high note. Even though fuck the fans/haters on youtube, Dave does seem to have forced so many high notes this tour when their not needed. I hope once VH comes along again in 2013, Dave's voice will be nice and rested. How do you spell pretentious? S-A-M-M-Y H-A-G-A-RComment

I got the impression from those comments that Dave could have been recording things like this tune before ADKOT, recording stuff pretty regularly - maybe demoing new tunes whenever the need / opportunity arose.THINK LIKE THE WAVESComment
