Let me start by saying I really really hate Sammy Hager. Who in their right mind could fail to see him for what he is? But here's the thing; and I'm paraphrasing Dave himself here - Any band is only as good as its weakest member. Dave back in Van Halen would still feature old Knit wear fan Anthony on bass and elecro-tom pads Alex on Linn samples. Ok so Eddie can play, but so can Steve Vai, Gregg Bissonette and Billy Sheehan.
As a long time fan of Dave and this site I think "we" would be much better served launching a "bring back "eat em and smile band" campaign than posting anti-Bette Middler flyers at Van Hagar venues. What's more there's probably more chance of it actually happening - although I was a little worried by the "get the fuck out of here" look Steve Vai gave me when I asked him about it at a recent G3 gig.
