2 days and 7 years before I was born. No wonder it sucked/was awesome.

I don't know where my original album wound up. I have the new 180g vinyl pressing, but I'm going to hit the record store within the next few days and look for a good old first pressing.

Just bought one off e-bay... early pressing with the WB Burbank/Palm Tree label... don't know if it's a real first pressing or not, but it's close enough for me. I read that the real first pressings came with a black and white inner sleeve... the later pressings contained color inner sleeves.

          Shame you missed the times...

It was released a month before I turned 20. Damn good times with that as a sound-track for life at that age!!

I have two original copies on vinyl and also one of the 180g remaster. Of the originals, one has the WB label with the trees, and the other the alternative standard WB label (sorta beige with the logo). The one with the trees label is on significantly flimsier vinyl. I can hold it between my thumb and forefinger it wobble it. The other one is on quite heavy vinyl - not as heavy as the 180g, but seems not far off.

Both of those old vinyl versions just had white paper inner sleeves. The remaster version was the first time I had seen a vinyl copy with those additional pics (which weren't in first versions of the CD either, if I recall).

I never thought the remastered vinyl was any better than the original. It might have been louder - it was hard to discern any real difference. I probably never had the best equipment to notice any improvement.

Well, the heavy vinyl does feel very good. Did anyone notice the cover artwork on the remaster was a bit blurry? It's like a not very good print job.

Well said. A sonic boot in the eardrums.
A game changer from the first listen.

I just turned 18. Being from So Cal Van Halen was among the rulers of the airwaves. They were immediatly accepted into Rock and Roll royalty. I remember it well.

I was almost 4 when it came out.. I didn't get hip to them until about 6 years later and I've never looked back since. It must have been amazing to be 18-20ish when it came out. Right time, right place!

Really? Geez who would a thought Alex played guitar and Ed drums first... and Mike loaned them a PA...

Still cause to celebrate... like we need a reason here...
