You have to buy it no matter what.If you pay to park on grounds you have to wear one comes with paying to park. At country usa
a couple years back a guy was killed trying to get to his campground across the highway. Also a 17yr old struck a group walking down the main road last year. The bullshit is paying to drink.

        A couple of notes...

        1) $2 to buy a wristband to buy alcohol. Really? Also, if you parked outside and walked in, they nailed you for a $5 "parking" fee. Complete horseshit.

        2) Beers were only $5 for a tall can. Shots were 4 for $15. Normal prices in Whiskey. Expected to be gouged, but wasn't too bad.

        3) When you lose your group and you live 2 hours away, you might want to wander to where the car is parked when the show is over. Having to call the police department to see if said person had been arrested or killed 12-hours later is not fun. He made it back, however....alive.

        4) The show: great stuff. Standard set. Band came on about 15 minutes late. Highlight of the night was the bass and guitar jam (with Dave skatting along)....I don't recall what song it was during, but Wolfie hasn't sounded better (this is the 4th time I've seen this lineup). He really has come into his own. The show was about 80 minutes long, but it seemed just the right amount of time (and it ended just before the rain started). Personally, I thought the show in Chicago last year was better. The new songs have improved - when I heard a couple of them last year, they were pretty rough. Also, drop "Tattoo," that song sucks.

        5) Dokken blew. So did Ratt. Jackyl stole the show on Saturday. Jesse James is a great frontman and kept the energy going the entire hour+ they played. Jackyl has come a long way since I first saw them nearly 15 years ago. And they stayed and signed autographs and shook hands for a couple hours after the show - the line was very long. Sounded great, classy guys.

        6) No comments on the Roth n Roll shirt. Thought I might run into some other Roth Army folks.
I want to thank your post again, and I am really glad that you have had a great day !!!

Didn't matter. If you paid for parking, you got a yellow wristband for each person in the car. If you didn't have a wristband, you had to pay $5 at the ID check station. Criminal...

Oshkosh didn’t seem to miss the Red Rocker on Saturday night as a David Lee Roth-led Van Halen hit the stage at Rock USA.
In this particular sentence, Oshkosh means planet Earth and every night is Saturday night. Ha!

            Go get'em Dave.

Ah ok. I was a little confused how you explained it initially. What bullshit. $5 just to walk into the site.

Another story out of this place is, the 1st year they moved to this site during the country fest a person that lives behind the stageing
area started shooting into the backstage area. It got crazy when that happened. Its funny now wasn"t then.

Sound is goddamn great on that clip. too bad the visuals don't match.

If only there was some pro shot video of this tour. But Eddie & Son do very well here. As does the Diamond one scatting over the results

One of the definite highlights, for me, was the reception. It was just over-the-fuckin'-top! Somewhere between Ed's opening note, and the moment that David Lee walked out onstage, there was a moment that caught me completely off-guard, and one that I clearly wasn't prepared for. The crowd went absolutely apeshit!
These guys were greeted with a total LEGENDS welcome.
It was a sharp volt of electricity that shot through the crowd and took me completely by surprise.
I got caught up in the emotion of it all, and a few tears ran down my face.
My girlfriend noticed this immediately and says "Ohmigod! Are you o.k.??"
I told her "I'm better than o.k.".....nothing has ever made more sense in my entire life.

As a Van Halen/David Lee Roth fan, you felt vindicated and validated all at the same time.
You feel that kind of jolt when your team is in the World Series or the Super Bowl....
It was THAT electric! It was THAT hyper kind of energy!

The band fed on that, and gave one of the best performances they've given in months...if not years!

A few thousand midwesterners learned the same thing I grew up always knowing.....this is one dynamic, kickass rock'n'roll band.

Yeah not one of my favourites either...but it does come across better live. Same with Tattoo - heavier with more attitude.

Oh and I think South America will get some VH next year...Dave will make it happen.

HAHA! So happy for you that you had the "moment". I had a few when I saw them for the first time with Dave in 2007. Now I know what people mean when they said they have a religious experience. You will savor that feeling forever.

                              VAN FUCKING HALEN!!!!

From the clips that I've seen it looks like Dave is behaving himself vocally. He's sticking to the lower register and seems to be mindful of keeping things in key....and at some points he's even mimicing things from the original recording.

I love Dave's improvisation, but at this stage of the game there's no shame in playing it safe more often than not.
