I think one of the best lines is "The point is not that an 11-year-old tried to impersonate him, it's that he was someone an 11-year-old would try to impersonate." Truth!Originally posted by conmee
If anyone even thinks about deleting the Muff Thread they are banned.... no questions asked.

I doubt it...it's not like anyone is banking on Van Halen to be a top seller anymore and they've got to write pop singles. And I think Ed is WELL beyond love ballads by this point. Plus you really think Dave would put his name on anything bland? While I don't care for a lot of DLR's solo catalog at least it can never be accused of being bland.Comment

A few months before my mother passed away, we were looking through a scrapbook she kept for me. In between all the school pictures, academic and athletic achievements, there were two pages we stopped and laughed about.
She said "This was the time you invited the entire neighborhood into our front yard, told everyone you were Diamond Dave, flew off the roof and broke your leg!"
It was a gruesome sight! I was probably one of the few 11-year-olds that knew what it actually looked like to see one of their bones poking visibly through their skin.
Spent close to an entire month in the hospital, and during my stay, everyone brought me Creem, Circus, and Hit Parader magazines. Every single one of them had Dave on the cover. (Fuck! Back then, they ALL did!)
I told her "Momma, I'm still up on that roof". To my 11-year-old mind, Roth was GOD to me, and nobody was going to tell me any different.
After reading interviews like this one, he STILL is!!Comment

"Van Halen released six albums in six years, the last of which, 1984, was their breakthrough. In 1983, they headlined Steve Wozniak's US Festival in California to 350,000 people and were paid a million dollars, more than any band ever for a single show."
For the most part, it was a great read, but I hate it when so called "journalists" do shit like this.....
Sure, let's perpetuate the myth that nobody ever heard of Van Halen until the keyboard pop tunes.... right after mentioning that they headlined the biggest fucking concert in the US the year before that.
Now how does that make any fucking sense at all? Unknown bands don't get to headline major festivals.Comment
