The high register thing fucks up DLR band for me, too. Some songs are just painful to hear, which is a shame.

But hey, if he feels he's got something to prove with that, fine.

I wish he wouldn't, he's much more expressive in lower registers.

      Cheers!

i think he is too in deep with the higher register thing, seems like he ALWAYS wanted to have it ! When he finally got it in 1994, he started using it like crazy !
It suits so cool for example on Night life , for some certain situations or ...the final chorus on CGTSNM , its cool ! i like it but not for a complete tune!
On his recent "Revealed" interview he talks about he and his higher notes and register he grow listening to that so i think its something he always wanted
to do, so he lost the high whistle scream but he compensates with the high register, but its wrong, we need the lower register, i love the high scream
but lets forget it if he cannot do it. (im 100% sure he can but his pipes are blocked for that maybe because of the smoking) He's got it back on the
end of the 2012 tour and 2004 too , he did it on As Is , unless they used some old scream recording which they did anyway.
(They used a 2003 DIAMOND DAVE scream that's already sampled 3 times on Thug Pop,She's looking good and Shoo Bop)

I think that scream in the beginning of As Is sounds like it starts out as a sample, then is immediately capped with a new scream. There's a definite vintage scream right before the solo to She's The Woman.

I didn't know that about the '03 stuff. I'll have to check that out.

            yes they sample 2003 screams
Not sure what's the reason but they did it 100%
He did this on the Diamond Dave Album , he used the same scream on three songs
            - ShooBop
            - She's Looking Good
            - Thug Pop

            ShooBop here at 2:34

            Thug Pop 0:34

            She's looking good at 1:56

Same scream Used on 2012's AS IS at 2:21

            What you think ?
Rwtd sampling is there as well

Interesting, especially considering the fact that John Shanks is in the credits of the Diamond Dave CD as an engineer.

I listened to the 2007 Charlotte boot again yesterday while driving back home from work, thinking about this thread more than once in a while...

I knew it, but man how Dave delivered during that tour! He hardly missed anything and sang every tune right in key, and his big voice was as big
as ever. Plus his rants were just spot on. I rediscovered his intro to "Ice Cream Man", that sounded like a genious improvisation, full of humanity,
                  presence and masterful humor.
Wolf yelling "DAVID LEE ROOOOTH!!!!" in the end nails it perfectly.

Damn, I hope Dave can still make it like he did then vocally speaking. Not so sure though...
