By the time that happens, Dave really won't be able to "sing" anymore.

Even though I'm going to the Wisconsin gig, I could really give a fuck if "VH" ever played another live show. I'll continue to go, and I'll support them, but if it blew up today, I wouldn't give a rats ass.

I'd take a clean copy of the US Festival, Sao Paulo, Oakland, Argentina, Largo or anything else they might have in the vaults, instead of the shows they are putting on these days.

As long as Mike doesn't write a 'spill the beans' book there'll be a chance.

When you see Mick Taylor back onstage with the Stones after years of publicly denouncing Mick and Keith for ripping him off, anything is possible. They made great music together that means more to people than anything the can ever do again - I think one day Ed will realize that it was because the four of them toughed it out for years together that they were able to blaze a trail for half a dozen years once they got signed.

People said Dave would never come back?

I don't think there was ever any question about Dave wanting back in. The question was, would the brothers let him back in.

The whole Dave and Sam tour was nothing more than an audition to get back in the band.

I would love to see Mike back in, but unless Wolf goes off to do another band, and gives his blessing, I don't see it happening.

Eddie will pull a Kurt Cobain before he lets Mikey back in the band.

It might come down to exactly that......

Obviously it's kinda cool for Wolf to play in his old man's legendary band, but if he had inclinations to be a full songwriting member with Tremonti (or whomever) I would think he would jump at the chance.

A bunch of 60 year old guys can't be that much fun for a 21 year old to hang out with, especially when one is your dad and another one is your uncle. How is the kid supposed to have any fun?

He's a stubborn guy, no doubt. It reminds me of the attempted intervention in 2004 reported in Hagar's book:

'Our new manager, Irving Azoff, agreed to hold an intervention with Eddie. He brought a big, beefy security guard and met Al and me at 5150. Eddie walked in, carrying his wine bottle. Irving did all the talking. He told Eddie the [2004] tour was going to be difficult, that he needed to go away for a week or two, that we could postpone some dates if we needed. We all agreed Eddie needed to clean up.

He smashed the bottle. "Fuck you," he said. "I will kill the first motherfucker that tries to take this bottle away from me. I left my family for this shit. You think I'm going to fucking do this for you guys?"'

I'd tend to agree with you: sooner or later, it'll happen.

Despite all the playground-mentality nonsense the classic four have hurled at each other throughout the years, I still can't believe they'd hold onto those old grudges forever to the point where it'd never happen...I mean, I don't wanna think the Van Halens, Roth and Anthony are dickheads to such a degree that it'd never happen.

Having said all that, if it never comes to pass it ain't gonna matter much. Too much time and goodwill has been pissed away by those guys for it to matter as much as it did 15 years ago.

“The people that want to complain about ‘I don’t like this,’ or ‘I don’t like that,’ ‘They should play this song,’ or ‘I only want the original band…’ The bottom line is: this is how Kiss exists right now, in 2013." -Eric Singer

Same rules apply for for Van Halen. Van Halen is now officially DLR, EVH, AVH and WVH. This is how they exist and 2013 and how they will exist in future years. And if you don't like it, absolutley NO ONE is stopping you from jumping ship.

I just don't think you can take anything Hagar says in that book as true without corroborating evidence. Hagar has proved time and time again over the years that he is a little liar.

There is an instinctive thing we all have to believe something when it's printed in a book. Even a cursory glance over some quotes in there plus at least 25 years of plain fucking bullshit mean that you have to assume there is a very good chance that never happened at least the way Hagar tells it...

                                Well, I believe it!

You look at the pics of EVH at the time - the 2004 reunion up to the porno soundtrack and the falling down drunk onstage at that House of Petals thing - and the stuff in that book about him doesn't sound fantastical at all. There's corroborating evidence of that kind of behaviour in Bertinelli's book as well - her father punching Ed out, etc., for similar stuff.

The fact that Hagar says Azoff organised it, and that there were other witnesses is his way of saying 'I'm not making this up'.
