I liked the first 2 albums. Hell Foreigner was my first real rock concert at 16 at The Seattle Center Coliseum.

Hell, even their third album "Head Games" was alright. They didn't drown in the Velveeta until "4".

Well get a few drinks in Mick and get the unedited version. That was a very very politically nice version. I've heard Mick for years and that is a highly cleaned up version of those sessions.
Hagar wrote almost nothing on 5150 and was more drunk than Eddie. Mick does not have a high regard of Hagar. Foreigner ballads yeah easy to knock them but hard to not cash the checks.

Maybe he was suggesting that the drums - Alex's electronic toms etc - sounded a lot WORSE before he got involved. I think on '1984' he only had an electronic bass drum, and the rest were acoustic - all because Ed had to record at the studio that killed the band.

Before Mick Jones got involved it was just Ed and Donn Landee, I guess. Donn's forte was apparently getting a good guitar sound - his work with Little Feat etc was known for the guitar tone.

Remember that Ted Templeman had been a drummer - with his producers hat on, I bet he hated the electronic drums. In fact, now that I am thinking about it, I am sure Landee thought they were a huge mistake.

But, hey, as long as Ed got to make the album in his backyard, fuck the band, the best producer they ever had, and the fucking drums - which always sounded fine to me before ... Hence Dave being spot on in referring to Ed as "the Unabomber"!!

Hilarious! Sounds like an 80's arcade game soundtrack.

Should read "Mick Jones talks Van Hagar..."
Writing In All Proper Case Takes Extra Time, Is Confusing To Read, And Is Completely Pointless.
