    5150 Studio Gear on eBay

Looks like EVH got rid of some old gear from 5150. Tripped over this guy's store while looking for something else:

Some meh in the list, like 19 inch studio racks, but a couple cool things, like this Ampeg bass head.

    Okay, maybe not $3k cool.

The higher ticket items come with a COA. Seems like anything under $500 does not.

I thought about picking up the ADAT but then it was like what do I need THAT for?

yeah that technology didn't last long, ay?

but i'll bet most of us still have boxes and boxes of old cassettes.

Wiki sez "ADAT is still used by some in the recording industry. It is also still in use for scientific work, and to drive laser light shows."

Just seems like a PITA to use now, when a decent budget PC can do basic recording.

yep, i remember the days when it was ADAT vs DA88...

early 90's ish. we used to record rehearsals on one (with a stereo mic). at the time, pc's were really expensive and had tiny storage.

i suppose there's lots of people out there who still have stuff on that format, it did sound crystal clear iirc.

Right...to set up and record quick ADAT was the way to go, unless one only needed two tracks, then they could go DAT or even the Sony PCM adapters to use with a VCR. Dump everything to the PC and it's still digital.

MiniDisc is compressed so it was more of a consumer option. Still have one that I haven't used in forever...should eBay that bitch too. I will even include a COA!

luckily, our bassplayer worked at the national film and sound archive, so he'd borrow one from work.
then we used to dump it to cassette.

                aahh, the good old days!

Dammit. Not enough cash for the Harmonizer...

If they had used theremin on that record, I'd so put an offer on it.
