I know, that sucks. Fortunately, there are still a hand full of used CD joints in the city. One is on my block at work.Comment

And yes, rarities and obscure cuts like Flex would add a little spice to the rice.My karma just ran over your dogma.Comment

Saw this article this morning. I have the other version which is more extensive than this new one but the remastering and addition of the DVD disc is cool. Still curious why Damn Good has never been included on a hits package. Always liked that one.

In fairness, he IS a member of Van Halen. These chowder-heads live in a self-contained, disturbingly and weirdly distanced from reality cocoon unseen since the days of Led Zeppelin. Hey, wanna buy a wah-wah pedal or some sneakers? They're what Ed uses, all evidence to the contrary.

Seems like an odd songlist, and I would agree that as a solo act Dave really didn't have enough legitimate commercial hits to qualify for releasing any such compilation under a "greatest hits" moniker. Maybe this is nitpicking, but more along the lines of a "best of" would be more accurate.
In EITHER event, um...I'm Easy? Sensible Shoes? No Big 'Ting? Hard to imagine any of those tracks being on many hardcore (never mind casual) fan 'best of' OR 'greatest hits' lists.
Assuming the Dave TV part of the dvd is the 1986 VHS release in full, that is somewhat useful, since that hasn't been updated to dvd for official release, but when considering the amount of solo Roth videos made, the remainder of the dvd portion doesn't even include the better-known videos, and to be frank I'd expect quite a few more videos included in terms of sheer quantity. The overall amount of videos on the dvd seems a bit...sparse.
Nah. I'm gonna give this a pass. Napalm Up Your Ass is far superior in terms of videos, and I've already got all the audio on the original releases and the 1997 "The Best": I don't need to keep rebuying the same stuff over and over again. Suppose it's a good thing something like this is being put out at all, since I can't imagine the interest in Roth solo today is even equal to (much less higher than) Dave's last greatest hits release in 1997 (and that release sold bupkis).Last edited by Terry; 10-06-2013, 06:40 PM.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

Was Sensible Shoes a hit ??
I remember it getting some airplay and I like it, but I don't remember other people liking it...
They were more like "that's david lee Roth?" when I pointed it out to them...
Oh well...
I can't see this selling 200 even copies...

Just Like Paradise got to #6 in the US charts Gigolo only got to #12.
Yankee Rose got to #16 so I think by the usual way of judging these things there were at least 4.
True it shouldn't be called Greatest Hits, it would need to be Essential Collection or some other term.
Anyhoo I don't understand why this is an insult or cruel joke or a disappointment. If you don't want to buy it then don't, what's the problem? There is no reason for me to buy it but if some people want to then good luck to all involved. What's the problem?Comment
