Did "Beat It" sound like a Van Halen song? Nope. It sounded like Eddie playing on someone elses's song. He brought what he had to Michael Jackson, 1/4 of the VH sound. Think of the first album, try to imagine Mike Anthony's vocals not there. What you would hear is the sound of something missing. That's what you get with these guys anymore, good songs with something missing. And a pirouetting atonal singer doesn't fill that void.

The solo did sound like a Van Halen solo which makes sense since Eddie Van Halen played it, can't argue with your logic there. But the song didn't sound like a VH song because the rest of VH wasn't involved, still follow? Because the 4 of those guys together combined to create a very unique sound, and without the distinctive backing vocals something is lacking. I just think Mike's vocals were integral to their overall sound, that's all, that's the VH I like(d). By all means you can continue with your hero worship of an overly effeminate rescued has been who cannot sing and just wants to bask in the glory of days gone by. Fanboi.Comment
