Apart from the fact that they have no truck with the media these days, my guess is ... it's for the same reason they pick the likes of Kool and the Gang and Ky-Mani Marley (and back in the old days, The Fabulous Poodles, etc etc) to open their tours. They have never courted a metal audience, even if a lot of us listen to metal and happen to be VH fans.

Van Halen has always hired shitty opening acts so there's no chance they'll be shown up if they put on a subpar show.

It's because EVH doesn't want to answer anything remotely close to a question about ANY of the breakups, or any MA questions, let alone answer questions for an hour....

And let's face facts - Trunk has made his bed... True, he did say compliments like "Van Halen I - Changed The World", but there is absolutely no doubt that he's a sheep, and he hasn't hidden that one bit.... So knowing that, why would EVH ever accept to be on that show and subject himself to an hour full of Bette questions?

It's the same reason that Gene & Paul will never be on the show, even though I agree with Trunk on that one...

I agree with most of that. And it's bullshit. Ed is an asshole that's all. He doesn't need to do the show so he won't. He thinks he is bigger than that. Why Dave won't do it is beyond me ? Is he afraid of Sammy questions ? If he is again I say bullshit ! Grow a fucking pair and be a man about it. But I don't see why Trunk would even bring Sam up anyway ? With the history of the original band why would he ask Dave about Sam ? Trunk would be an idiot if he wasted his time with the Sam vs Dave shit. He might ask about Sam if he got Eddie on there, how he replaced Dave. That would make sense. At the end of the day I have no problem with Trunk. He is one of the few people who support a lot of bands nobody gives a fuck about anymore. Someone in Van Halen needs to man the fuck up and go on there. Christ they were on of the biggest bands of all time.

From what I've seen I find it astonishing that Trunk presents anything, he's a complete charisma vacuum and also not really something that you want displayed on a 42" screen in your home like pantyhose filled with mayonnaise.

There must be thousands of better candidates.

Also, and some of you may even have experienced this, it's a common phenomenon that when someone is told terrible medical news such as that they have a life threatening cancer that they burst out laughing. It's a never coping mechanism by the body to deal with something too terrible to immediately cope with.

That reaction is the only plausible explanation for anyone ever laughing at the 'comedy' performed by Jim Florentine.
