With Dave on board, I doubt that TV theme song writer Mike Post would have been producing.
If the old team had been together on that album, I suspect it would have been the entire old team.
Dave, Eddie, Mikey, Alex, Ted Templeman, and Don Landee.Eat Us And Smile

I don't think I saw any mention of "groove"... That is the term I think of while listening to Eddie's rhythm playing. Groove comes from the soul. Also people say "well that is a simple riff. Nothing special." I have to retort... Ok play it so it sounds like Ed's groove, don't just go through the motions."Comment

I think they both would have come back for a Van Halen reunion album in 96/97 though. As much as I would have loved for Ted to produce ADKOT, it wasn't likely due to the band not being with WB anymore as much as it was age or retirement. Ted was a loyal company man (although Warners might have screwed him in the end) and I don't see him producing for any other label, but the band was still on good terms with WB up until VDIII tanked, and the best of released to promote Velveetapalooza 2004 tanked even harder.Eat Us And Smile

Eddie is not overrated. He's over copied. To really appreciate Eddie you had to be around when he first broke onto the scene. Nobody was playing guitar like him. Nobody had tone like him. He was pure magic! The most influential guitar player since Hendrix. Everything he did was original. Even his guitars were unique. He was like this crazy magician that you couldn't wait to see what he would cook up next. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Maybe he "retired" because he didn't want to work with Van Hagar?

I don't think bands are as big as they once were. The music industry isn't what it used to be. It's seems like the gaming mediums have stolen a lot of that fire. I mean we grew up with three networks on TV. It was record stores full of posters, incense, and drug paraphernalia. We went to concerts and bought the records because we saw our older brothers or the kid next door doing it. Before that our parents were buying records and maybe your dad played sax in his own band. I would say we were on the end tail of the band/record store generation. Faster computer processors and the internet changed the game and really, I don't know if it's as fun.No!
