Yeah, a woman being the lead singer of Van Halen. Just one more of Ed's genius ideas. But it's no big deal - Ed told anybody in LA who could run, walk or stagger up his driveway that they "had the job." I'd bet money that there's a retired garbage man in LA right now, sitting in a bar and telling anybody who'll listen "no, really, I was gonna be the next singer in Van Halen! Here's where Eddie wrote down the contract on a cheeseburger wrapper. See??"

When ya think about it, he sorta figured out a compromise by hiring Gary Cherone.

I say who gives a shit ! Just shows me how stupid the sisters really are too think that would have worked! They were lucky they got Hag ! At least people knew who he was. At the end of the day sure Dave quit and fucked them over, but it is, and was obvious that Dave is the only guy to front Van Halen.

I wasn't going to tell anyone but I was working in Hollywood at the Arco across the street from the Whiskey one night and these two guys walked in and heard me singing along with Roy Orbison on the radio and offered me the gig but I turned them down because I was getting plenty of action from drunk groupies who didn't get to blow any of the musicians on the strip that night. I still have the contract they wanted me to sign but it's written in mustard on an AM/PM corn dog wrapper not a cheeseburger wrapper.

A woman as lead singer of Van Halen ... uh, no.
In David's book he said that - aside from the time it took to get anything done with the band after Edward had built 51 - he felt an impending catastrophe with Van Halen, and thought it would be best to leave with their rep intact. Yoko Bertinelli wanted him gone from the first, like it was any of her damn business, and look what she got in his place. From a frontman who partied but had a disciplined mind to a tequila swigging clown with under-the-stage sex tents. It makes me sick to think of what could have been. See what happens when you fuck with destiny, Yoko ? I think you found out.

It is a wonder that Hagar actually joined VH given the bands that were beating down his door - The Eagles, Black Sabbath, The Fat Boys......

That song's less disco than I Was Made for Loving You.

What else do fans of Van Halen have to talk about, the new album expected out next century?

I would be an a hole too if I was a DLR fan. Just a bunch of old DLR fans on here bashing Sammy. DLR cant sing and he acts like a fucking idiot. Hagar is a class act and can sing. That would piss me off to no end as well. DLR is done! Sammy still killing it at 66!
