Here is a handwritten Thank You letter from DLR made to Norman's Rare Guitars in Oklahoma back in 2001. He was thanking them for the Gibson ES-335. The store framed the letter and hung it on the wall.
Big thanks go to the amazing Greg Renoff for the link.
Is that 1980? A little 'take your whiskey home' perhaps
Still amazed at the rare photos you consistently find!
Yeah, it does look to be from 1980. They are from the Diver Down inside album cover sleeve. The 1982 tourbook has tons of amazingly cool pictures as well. Pretty sure the same pic is also in there in color, but is so small.
I always thought VH or DLR should put out one of their own big official picture book. Like the Stones or KISS did.
Back in 2007 when they were going to release another Greatest Hits album, it was mentioned that Dave was going to oversee the picture booklet, which was supposed to contain many super rare unseen shots. Including some taken by Helmut Newton.
Hopefully someday they will put something out. Dave's official site has an awesome picture gallery, but hasn't been updated with anynew old shots for awhile.

We are lucky that we got the 2 Zloz books. Those are pretty amazing to have such great shots of VH. But another book from the band would be rad.
Yeah a "Van Halen by Van Halen" book similar to what the Stones did would be pretty sweet. Except I'd want contributions from all original members. It would have been nice to read Mick Taylor's thoughts on his (best) era, just like I'd want to read Mike's. Wolfie can write the introduction or something.
