I've gotta sympathize with Dave on that. I've never been married myself and didn't start living in sin until I was in my 40s. Before I moved in with my girlfriend some of my neighbors suspected I might be less that straight too. I had a few girlfriends but I never felt like shacking up with any of the ones that wanted to shack up with me. I wasn't the guy who had to have a wife or live in girlfriend to enjoy life. After living with the one I did finally move in with I think I made the right decision.

I think Dave is just too damn intellectual and energetic to sustain any long term relationship. Imagine being Dave and having to dumb yourself down to the daily conversations and ruts of just one person ? He is probably self-aware of this dilemma and doesn't want to shortchange anyone on a relationship that would only be for his convenience.
