Man. The Van Halen fanbase are a bunch of bitches. I'm ashamed.... The worst that will happen is Van Halen will say fuck you we are still millions of dollars richer than you and will go out and people will love it anyway. Or they'll say we're done, no one cares about the band anymore ungrateful fans. And to that I say fuck you all (the negative ones), if that ever happens I'll be pissed....then again neither would happen and they won't even care haha.

Still, disappointed in the VH fanbase, it baffles me why in the internet world everyone assumes they have authority to comment and rag on stuff if they don't like it. Directly I'm talking, not just discussing how shit you think it is with your mates that's always been around, but directly on the bandpage and youtube etc, someone from the camp/or artist will obviously see it (wolfgang, PR, webmasters etc who probably pass it on to the band). Pisses me off. It's like going up to someone and saying fuck you're ugly, or going up to a singer and saying you suck, or man you're kid sucks ass he's fat as fuck. People (the majority) just don't do that in the real world. It's just such a dick thing to do. I mean wtf!, why can't people just be nice? haha. If you don't like it, just move on and listen to something else instead of being a rude, disrespectful asshole. The internet world has brought out the asshole in everyone, big, prolapsed, ugly and shitty.

End of the day it's their band, they do what they want. They've worked their asses off for us and we've paid them for their work. They don't owe us shit. That said it'd be a nice gesture to the fans to have a modern blu-ray and some classic shows haha. Rant over.

If ANYONE has the right to criticize the substandard product that a certain band has produced, IT'S US....

It's US that have literally spent thousands upon thousands of dollars the last 37 years on concert tickets, airfare, gas, dozens of t-shirts, albums, cassettes, CD's, downloads, and it goes on and on and on....

We are the consumers. These guys are SELLING us something. They set the bar high. They used to demand the best of themselves, and expected us to demand the best from them. Now they are lazy and complacent. After being diehard fans since the 70's, we're just supposed to turn the other cheek, and not express ourselves? Sounds like a pussy move to me. Hey, I'm a Dave guy too. But I'm not sugarcoating this travesty. They would have gotten a free pass from me if they had thrown us a bone by including an old show with this. But to call this their "Definitive Live Album" is just a slap in the face to a fan like me. They must think we are pretty fucking stupid, and let's face it, we have been for a lot of years. They've gotten away with a lot, but I don't think they're going to get away with this one. I truly think the backlash will be as bad, if not worse, than the Cherone thing.

Its been a few years since I've posted on here, but I gotta agree with Von, this record is not good. The reviews are going to be nasty, to say the least. What really makes this release a shame is the band sounds pretty damn good .... and then .... Dave sings :-( How they (VH) don't hear it is beyond me, this thing needs to be buried in the vaults, not released!

You take this site and DDLR and you look at all the info and news these boards have provided to keep the whole damn world informed of what's going on, or for most of the past 15 years what's NOT going on. Pimping every single thing these guys have done, including drawing in new fans with all the content on the boards. Remember the old old days when people used to trade boots off these sites?

So when they put out a half assed effort, call it their "definitive live album", and basically say fuck the fans, yeah you're gonna see a lot of old time fans raise hell about it.

I don't think this is anything specific to the Van Halen fanbase. It doesn't matter what you are looking at on YouTube it could be the most amazing beautiful thing ever there are always a bunch of stupid cunts bringing it down, I guess/hope it's mainly teenage boys.

What you can get if you can be bothered going through it is a bit of a sense of percentages and if it's 80% or 90% negative that is not a good sign.

That said YouTube comments are like surveys done in shopping malls or by telephone, you get a window onto the opinions of that small set of people that respond.

I have wondered over the years about the chicken and egg of this. Did they decide not to have a proper web presence because the fan sites were doing it for them or were the fan sites good because they weren't.

Yeah I'll admit I get pissed off by it all too haha, the frustration drives me INSANE beyond belief too but I just think maybe we don't have to be such assholes about it...to the band at least haha. I get this is a forum where stuff like this is intended to be discussed, I just get pissed seeing it on bands youtube videos, Facebook etc. It's like the new age equivalent of hate mail, why is it neccesary? haha. We obviously know it's entirely up to the band to release old stuff, they know we want it, so why do we have to insult the greatest band on earth for not doing it haha.
