Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!

It's my opinion that Dave has consciously chosen to embellish his vocal performances with that high octave bullshit and baritone half-assed opera vibrato crap thinking he's being creative and cute. Hey, it's his masterpieces to fuck up if he wants to and the band allows it.
        .
I agree with all of this, Its almost as if Dave thought he had to morph somewhat to retain relevance or perhaps even was told by band members that he isn't 30 anymore and the bare-chested thing was dated?

Who really knows. It has to change though

Listening to VH from Indiana 7/6/84 on cassette, of all things, right now.

          The sound is crisp.

          The music is great.

          The banter is top notch.

The solos are blazing and irratic.

The screams are guttural as ever.

The crowd cheer bursts are genuine.

The vibe is that of the quintessential Van Halen.

          *sigh*

If only the modern day VH knew what the definition of definitive was.

Yeah, it would be 1985 all over again.

Well, after all, that was their Heyday.

This is a really, really good way of describing it. Nice post, Zah

I have this bootleg myself and it is a good show with good sound quality. I haven't listened to it in years though and the bootleg was on cassettes (!), so i have no idea how those tapes would sound today after umpteen years packed up in my garage. I also have the Charlotte show from that tour as well, which was also a good show.

                    That may have been 1986.

Many of you should check out the year 1986. It would be quite therapeutic.

I've got this one and MSG from '84 on tape and they've withstood the "garage" test of time over here. Thank God.

                        But Wiki said '85!

Settle down. You know I'm all about the '86, or did you forget our Fixx discussion?

MSG 84 - March 30th show. Just pulled it out. Cathedral is ... obviously the bionic man version. Mind-blowingly good.

                          Where's the beef ...

Well, that's good. It's gets so taxing hearing about 1985 when "CVH" was no more. It's like many of you are reliving the trauma of 1985 when Roth left the band over and over again. Now all you have for therapy is a homoerotic fansite.

                                Eh, it's progress.
