"I want to clarify some confusion surrounding a recent picture from a video shoot for my new Schecter Signature Bass that will be debuting at NAMM next week. Apparently, because a road case with the name "Van Halen" on it is in the photo (which was taken by someone off to the side of the shoot), there is speculation of me having involvement with the band. This is not true. The shoot took place in my warehouse and this is just one of the many road cases I still own from the VH days that happened to be there. As a matter of fact, The Circle will be performing at the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque, NM next week. I hope to see you all out there!"

I care about the band, Van Halen, in the sense that I agree with your second sentence. I don't see them ever releasing anything old or new with Dave. As far as their individual futures go, I'd be interested in seeing what any of them are up to from time to time with the exception of anything involving Hags.

They had their final chance in '07 to cement their legacy. Instead OBC shows up at the press conference with his kid. And no, I do not care about nor believe the Magical Ear Buds story one fucking bit. Sure, it was great to see that tour and the next one. But honestly if Dave had walked out on opening night in Charlotte in '07 with the DLR touring band I would have had just as good of a time. I really only go to see Dave anyway.

As far as what they do next...I don't think I give two shits. They'll wait until they're three years older then try to do something, unless they haul Sammy back into the band. And if they do...holy shit get ready for Ed to go into overdrive ripping Dave a new ass hole.

Yup. Just about any other band would have put out 3 studio albums in the time they took to put out one. The fact that they could do more but don't makes it hard to care. They could easily make more summer fun rockers. If only they wanted to.

Not so sure about that..... Seems that all rock bands over 40 these days (and there aren't many actual rock bands left that aren't) average about 5 years between albums. So maybe in the 9 years since the VH reunion was first announced - February 2007 was the Rolling Stone cover - they might have made 2 albums, but 3 is unlikely even if the band was a fully functional creative unit. And of course, the "Tattoo You" like results of ADKOT (old songs refreshed with new lyrics & vocals) certainly suggest they are not.

Final result was still a damn good album, of course. But I really wish they had been able to make an album from scratch.

For comparative measure, Pearl Jam, who are well past 40, put out 3 CDs between '06 and '13. For any group of guys who are not also working a shitty day job, 3 CDs in 7 or 8 years should not be a problem. Hell, I'd say it's a priveledge to be in demand. Like I said before, if only they wanted to do it.
