Diamond Dave on American Idol!

i heard on album rock station WIIY, 97.9FM out of baltimore, on one of their brief news segments that paula abdul has said the show will add one more celebrity judge and that it's down to 2 people; meatloaf and DLR.

now, this was from a DJ, not paula, herself, and he didn't give any other source to find the news, other then to say, "according to paula abdul..."

but still, they say no pub is bad pub...



personally, i don't know if i want this to be true or not. i mean, i HATE everything about american idol. i'm proud that i've never watched more than 3 minutes of it at any one time and that's only because of an extended lead-in to 24.

but if dave were on it, i'd still hate the music and the concept. but i think they might've roped me in to watch a bit. damn it!

Yeah, again...I'm proud of Dave when he's anywhere. But AMERICAN IDOL? It's just about the worst thing on television. It totally misses the point about what makes an important artist. Artists should be inspired by others to then produce their own sound, etc. The quality of the voice is really only a small matter. It's the material...it's the attitude. This whole idea of non-songwriters being judged by super-commercial industry idiots (c'mon, Paula Abdul??) and then moving on to do awful albums written by ghostwriters...it's atrocious. Hey, Sam probably can hit some higher notes than Dave. Does this make him anything even close to a pimple on Dave's ass? Fuck, no. Dave is talented, creative and brought something new to the industry. If there were a hard rock American Idol, Sam would probably do well. What does that tell you?

Anyway, I love the Sopranos. I'm addicted to the fucking show. So, when Dave came on, it was like a marrying of two of my favorite things. Dave on American Idol? Only if it increases his public persona.

Yeah, but the more I think about it, it may also give him a lot of negative publicity. He may come off like a real jackoff.

Except for Jump, Classic VH never really turned out any "Top 40" crap (although they sold plenty of albums and concert tickets). Dave on a Top 40 type music show makes no sense.

arent they doing one where they find a rock band? i would think dlr would be more suited for that and not american idol since dont the contestants sing songs by the judge and i cant see them singing any vh stuff. never watched the show either...just commercials and crap like that where they show the clips

I think this is a perfect fit for Dave. although I have no interest in this show, I would if he was on it. I agree with " chelle" it opens him up to all the teenagers that think sammy came first. PLUS, what a venue to announce the BIG REUNION..

He would be better suited for a show like that, and I think there is something like that in the works. There is definitely a show were contestants will be competeing to be the new singer for INXS. I don't mind INXS, but the show sounds like crap.

I can't imagine Dave as a one week guest judge, those are the ones where the contestants have to sing their songs. OK, here's Tracy with "Sinner's Swing!"

That would be cool, Dave would add some humor to the show,he would be a breath of fresh air and if Simon got out of hand Dave could put him in his place. On the other hand Meatloaf is a pompus ass that would make the show dull.
