    I still have yet to hear the new Van-Hagar on the radio

    Coming home from Nantucket today, 94HJY in Providence was playing a block of Van Halen (HJY is ALWAYS good for some Classic VH...) They played three DLR/VH tunes and one from 5150. No new Van Hagar to be found anywhere.

    Just thought id mention it...

    That first single was played a couple of times here in SLC when it was first released but since then..... NADA. Just as it should be. It's not worthy of being played and there is obviously no demand for it.

    BTW bro, you missed out. The Van Hagar "reunion" tour rolled through here last week selling "approximately 9000" seats in an arena that put up 18,000 tix for sale. LMAO.

    Flop of the century? However, our local supporters say "It was better that way cos it made the show more intimate." I shit you not and welcome back!

        Gotta say, I heard 1/2 of IT's ABOUT TIME on WRIF in Detroit once, then heard the complete thing one other time around the time (July10th?) the Sham Halen tour limped through the MOTOR CITY. The first time it got aired, the DJ's only got half way in and comented WTF?!?! THEN, they played MMM and said, "Now THAT'S how VH SHOULD SOUND!" Haven't heard the other two piles of shit on the radio here AT ALL!!!!!!!

          You can put perfume and a pretty pink bow on a pile of shit, but it's still just a pile of shit.

              The only time I heard IT'S ABOUT TIME on the radio was when it first came out. They tried to play it more later that week and then opened the phone lines. The callers on Q107 in Toronto said, "This song sucks. They should get Diamond Dave back or pack it in!!" Then they didn't play the song ever again, as far as I know.

              I shit you not!!!

                Lucky dude.

                On the way home from the office. They played this block...

                * Mississippi Queen
                * Start Me Up
                One of the reasons God allows Keith Richards to continue breathing is so that he can write riffs like that
                * One Scotch One Bourbon One Beer

                ...then....

                * It's About Time

                WTF is wrong with that picture?

                Talk about killing a good music buzz in a hurry.

                  Yeah bro, the clear channel "rock station" here (96 schlock) promoted
                  the tour, had a contest, etc. They didn't play any of it.

                  The regular guys got axed during the FCC witch hunt , I'm sure
                  they would have had fun with it....fuck, that would've gotten 'em
                  fired as well.

                  Anyway, there's a local "nu rock" station here that gave 'em some
                  airplay. Typical morning crew fodder for laughs type shit. They
                  fucking lampooned it to hell and back. Ya know, like twenty minutes
                  of drive time.

                  That's the only time I heard any of it....and I laughed.

                  Then they played some fucking hoobastank or some shit.
                  Perfecto.

                      Man they NEVER, and I mean NEVER, play Van Hagar around here on the rock stations. They do play a fair amount of Sammy solo drivel, but that's about it. They promote the upcoming shows here, then proceed to play "Drop Dead Legs" and "Everybody Wants Some".

                          The only time I have heard it on the radio out here in Portland was on some AM chat channel (see my post on "A Funny Thing Happened Today"). It was a few seconds into it and they canned it and put on "Unchained" instead. Short of that, I've yet to hear it on the "New Music That Matters" channel KUFO (of course, all they play is the Nu-Metal bullshit anyway) or the classic rock channel KGON at all. They're (KGON) playing some Hagar material on occasion, but it's usually "When it's Love" or "Dreams" or some other crap, but from what I've heard on average they play about 10 Dave era songs to every 2 Sam era. Not exactly a balanced playlist, but where's the demand for the Hagar stuff?

                          Apparently, non-existant.

                              LOL...funny...

                              Not really on topic, but there's a LOT happening out here, musically. The scene for the practicing musician is VERY warm and friendly, and gigging is easy as shit...there's a scene for everything, from rap to punk to country to death metal to jazz to blues to you name it...in a lot of ways, the west coast in general (and yes, Portland to be precise) has more going on for the practicing musician, and even just the casual fan, than a lot of other places in this country. Trust me, I know, because I've been all over it and seen all sorts of different scenes. I wouldn't trade Portland's music scene for damn near any other city.
