No, without Dave they should hang it up. Obviously they're not interested in putting out a full album, they're only into half assed projects now. David C is a much better singer than Hagar(though he's a fucking Robert Plant clone), but is still a hack. There is no replacement for DLR. Maybe I'm deluded but if Jesus Christ himself stepped in, I'd be pissed. I doubt Jesus would talk as much shit as Spam has in the last 20 years.

Would have been more interested to see what Ed could have done with Coverdale than Hagar, if only because we knew Van Hagar blew the first time around and wasn't likely to improve the second time.

Yep, Coverdale is a Plant-clone, no fucking doubt. But I'll take a Plant clone over Hagar any day.

Think the best thing Ed could have done, if he was up for it, would be to have gone a totally instrumental route a la Vai. Just put out an instrumental album that focused on his guitar playing (had to qualify that, because otherwise we'd have gotten an album full of 'Newworlds").

That way he wouldn't have to bother with trying to please the Roth contingency, we all would have been spared Hagar's md-range warble, and Ed might have actually put out some guitar work worthy of his talent.

You figure for all the bitching Ed does about lead singers and how he's in it for the music, he'd be glad to just dispense with a vocalist altogether. Would have had no probs with Biff Malibu doing all the lead vocals if they took that on the road.

I'll say this. At least I would have some interest in hearing an album with Coverdale if DLR is not going to be there. Coverdale is a great vocalist and he has a lot of charisma. With Hagar at the the helm I know what is in store. Mediocre material and lackluster live shows. I would have more interest in seeing Coverdale than Hagar if DLR is not there, that is for sure. But change the name to the Van Halen Brothers or something. Instead of trying to act like it's the same band that fucking dominated rock from 78 to 85.
