Sam certainly will. His albums are certainly are NOT the reason they would get in, but Sam will be in. They will perfom "Right Now" and Dave will perform with someone else.

Not that I know of, I was thinking along the lines of Fogerty. I can't see them performing with both singers, but who knows.

yeah i just think fogerty performed but not the other guys from the band with a different singer. it would be really strange if that happened with VH...only fitting that they would make a joke out of the whole thing and do something like two different performances.

"Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria considered includes the influence and significance of the artist's contribution to the development and perpetuation of producers, disc jockeys, record company executives, journalists and other industry professionals. The Foundation's nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects 5-7 nominees each year in the artist or performing category. Ballots are sent to an international voting body of about 1,000 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number and more than 50% of votes are inducted."

I guess I misunderstood that part about the 5-7 as being the number of performers inducted, not nominated.

Van Halen has two songs in the 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll History Hall of Fame...

you guessed it Dreams and Right Now! (not, okay, I am kidding)

Running with the Devil and Jump.

Two is not alot, for all the songs classic Van Halen had that kicked ass, but it is two; and that is worth something. A lot of past inductees only had 1.

Another thing I am curious about is how Dave would fare on his own. They have a category for back up musicians/song writers, etc. but it is more for little known people-or at least that is the way it is phrased there.

Dave can only make it as a performer.

Why a "front man" cant make it as an individual without the band. David's contribution goes way deeper than spandex and bleach blonde hair. He has made many behind the scenes contributions that the average joe just doesn't know about, and in that respect, I think he should qualify. The stage show, the album, those are just the end result. What shapes rock and roll is what goes into the music before the public is ever exposed to it.

What would be great is if Van Halen gets inducted, and then Dave pulls a Fogerty and jams with an all-star group.

$10 says that if Van Halen does get inducted, Eddie is a no show. The guy seems to be shutting himself off from the world around him a little more each day.

On a side note, as much as I'd love to see it happen, I don't think they'll get in on their first try. The "well-reviewed" guys like George Harrison can slide in, but if AC/DC isn't in yet, I don't think Van Halen has a chance with the voters.

                        Vanstonica - ACDC is in...inducted in 2003.

DLR and Sam can only be inducted as performers with Van Halen. Neither of them have a shot in hell as a solo artist.

oops. Sorry. I meant Lynyrd Skynyrd....a group that is worshiped by their fans, but has a bad rap in the press.
