i think i remember reading that it was another 60,000 or something around there which I think takes it to gold status*

And if memory serves me right, GOLD status is 500,000 copies sold. VHIII is the ONLY gold status recording in the history of the SISTERS and Mike.
OF COURSE ALL CLASSIC VAN HALEN RECORDINGS ARE PALTINUM(1,000,000). That would be due to DAVID LEE ROTH. Just to clear up any confusion.

I doubt if BOBW would reack a miilion sales (platinum) which is sad in VH's case.

Goes to show you how much buyers are really interested in NEW Sammy songs verses new Dave songs (Best of Vol. 1 sold up 3 miilion copies).

However, yes, we are in the downloading age, yet still, if VH really wanted to get this thing to sell, they needed:

                  - A Tour with DAVE, not Fatso.
                  - New songs with DAVE, not Fatso
                  - a bonus DVD with rare concert footage and interviews from 1978 to 1984.

                  THEN, this thing would sell.

Riding on a lame tour with Sammy Hagar, more new mediorce songs from Van Hagar and throwing in three live Dave-era tracks sung by Sambo was NOT the way to go to make this CD sell.

They only need to see 500,000 of these sets for it to go platinum (each double-disc counts as two sales). But that means little, as the Roth material is what is selling this package, just like the Roth material sold BOV1.

There's nothing good about BOBW at all well except the Dave songs, but the thing is about Sammy is he redoes things himself. When best of Vol. 1 came out, it was just the Mario Bros and Mike. So Hagar thinks he can do things better, so when he came back he released it. I still like Best of Vol. 1 better.

Seemed a bit more "legitimate" back then eh?
                            The cretins that bought this?

About half that of last week, exactly as moi predicted, and absolutely pitiful for a band going under the name "Van Halen".

Oh, and the gold or (not very bloody likely) platinum status will be with the asterisk "*two disc set" notation which essentially outs it as bullsh*t.
