I've come to a conclusion this past weekend...

This past Labor Day long weekend, I was relaxing with a few beers and it suddenly hit me. No, it wasn't Spammy's fat ass on tour that hit me. I realized that I don't want a Classic Van Halen reunion anymore. That's right. You read it correctly. I asked myself just how far we can/should take this "It Ain't Van Halen Without David Lee Roth/David Lee Roth IS Van Halen" idea and it occured to me that I wouldn't want the Almighty Dave to be influenced/ruined by what the VH Bros. have become. Spammy deserves the VH Bros., and vice versa. When I'll be at the Roth concert at Casino Rama on Nov. 4th, that will be my Van Halen concert, AND it will be my Circus come to town, as well as my Straight Pride Day Parade. I don't feel that we NEED the rest of classic VH to relive and enjoy Classic Van Halen. It's extremely obvious that the VH Bros. don't appreciate us or the 6 pack, and Spammy and Mikey only follow the VH Bros. I don't see the VH Bros. changing their minds or points of view anytime in the near future, so screw 'em. I DON'T WANT DAVE TO REUNITE WITH THE REMAINING 3 MEMBERS ANYMORE, HE'S MORE THAN FINE ON HIS OWN. Your thoughts?

I will be happy to see Dave with whatever band he is playing with at any given time. I guess I am a little different because I have not been a true blue fan all these years since they have split. I was a fan prior to 1984... and there were a few Hagar songs I liked, but would not really say I was a fan of the band. Then in Januarymy interest was renewed, and now I will settle for nothing less. I probably would not feel that way if I had "personally" felt let down at all the other failed attempts.

I want a full reuninon for two reasons. The first is that it is just wrong for all the hating that goes on in the Van Halen camp. DAVE DESERVES BETTER THAN THAT. Its time to let it all go, and they can go out as friends. (Or least showing the respect for Dave that he is owed.)

Second, I really want to see what they could come up with this time around. I think it would be different than the six pack, but someone needs to teach these youngsters what Rock is all about!

I kinda agree with you. It's been too long and the way the sisters have ruined there legacy let's just cherish the past. Let's not tarnish what once was.

I was going to start a thread along the same lines , but you pretty much covered it. My personal thoughts were how long are we all going to come here and discuss what appears to be a dead horse?
I like the new info about Dave , but I will not be here in 5 years Hoping , and talking about the Van halen reunion with Dave that more than likly is never going to happen. I went as far , as writing the person who claimed to be Edward Van Halen last week on there private E-Mail addy. No Reply , but I knew that was going to be the case. I wanted to see , if he would take a personal interested in a Old Van Halen Fan! Of Course it was the same message he wrote here. F.U.C.K. You I think it was? Anyway This site ROCKS ( Dave should be proud!!!) Most Everyone here is COOL, ( Except a Few, and you know who you are!!! HINT: SAMMY COCK SUCKERS) I hope we can all see an impossible dream happen. I will wait 1 more year! It would ROCK if Dave would do a full blown USA Tour with his own band again!!!

The clock was ticking before the latest debacle and it isn't slowing down.

How long will it take for another money-grab?

If it eventually happens with Dave, he'll be ready and it won't be forgettable.

There's only one way to say goodbye....

            I AGREE

I've said several times that DLR is fine without VH and I don't care at all if he ever goes back. In fact if I were in his inner circle and the opportunity arose I would personally tell him to tell the VH bros. to go fuck themselves. Not only have the brothers done everything in their power to ruin DLR and his enormous impact on VH but so have many people in the industry like radio dj's saying VH were bigger with hagar and some of the classic fans who actually defected to the other side and now claim hagar rocks (yes these idiots are out there my ROTH brothers). If I were DLR I would (by my actions--touring on my own and releasing albums) basically say to the public you're either with me or go fuck yourself if you're stupid enough to believe that 5150 kicked ass. And that would be the end of it. If I were DLR I would never go back, no matter what they offered. And to the hagar fans reading this, for the 100th time---- when 5150 came out I BOUGHT IT and listened to it with an open mind. I was actually pretty excited to hear it at first. Then I heard WCTBLove, Dreams, LWIn etc etc and that was the first nail in the coffin. Then a couple of months later I saw the 5150 tour and that was the last straw. I knew it was over. And everything those idiots have done since (with the exception of the brief 96' reunion) have proven me right time and time again. VH is done. Have been since 85'.
            DLR/VH IS JUST BETTER

Dave is better off solo. I just wish he would make more solo CDs. Diamond Dave is fine but it doesn't count because it is all covers. If Dave did nothing more than put out a good original rock solo CD every 2-3 years I would be very satisfied. And like you say, Ed and the chumps don't deserve Dave. And Dave shouldn't be put through the hell of their bullshit. The only problem as I see it is that Dave likes the bright lights and I think he thinks the lights would be brighter if he was in VH.

If I had already seen Van Halen back in the day I'd agree. But I haven't and for that reason alone I really want to see a reunion.

We are all in agreeance that if a reunion does take place its strictly a money grab correct?

I don't agree. I think Dave wants this for more than the money, and I think the brothers secretly want to see the top again (and they do want a kickass album). I think the brothers are just ignorant as to how to attain their VH goals.

Would I be there for a reunion? DAMN STRAIGHT. Does it matter in the BIG PICTURE? Not really. DAVID LEE ROTH IS VAN HALEN. It's SOUL, It's HEART, It's BRAINS, It's BALLS, AND it's HYSTERICAL SENSE OF HUMOR. I'm gonna see DAVE as much as I can afford to. I don't GIVE TWO SHITS what the SISTERS & MIKEY do without DAVE. THEY ARE DEAD TO ME.

So Roth really is interested in writing kick NEW original kick ass music but isnt interested in doing it with his band?

But i thought Alex is a cunt and Mikey is irrelevant and Eddie has completely lost his skill/talent on guitar?

So if Roth ever comes back he will slap Eddie back into shape and get him to write great music again and be able to peform the songs good in concert?

I think Dave_is_Vh is on the same page as me.(make more solo music and tour supporting it)

As for the money, I am not sure. I read on another site that following this tour Ed has plans on selling off some of his Dave era guitars for the money?

I think you are right that Dave wants the bright lights-but that those lights will NEVER be as bright as they were in the early 80's. I don't care how good they are if they get back together-there will never be another US Festival.

I think the brothers are not as ignorant as they are blind as well as being stuck in the blame game. They have admitted playing it all the time. Yeah, when something goes wrong, you are looking for someone to blame. Dave made them great, and Dave took it all away.

If a reunited classic Van Halen can't, at the very least, do justice to their back catalog live, much less create new material, there's no reason for a reunion.

Based on what I've heard from this tour, the Van Halens aren't interested in even putting out the effort to make the classics sound good, never mind if they still have the ability to.

Van Hagar can end off their career like a bunch of money-grubbing, over-the-hill rock stars (hey, why should they finish any different from how they started?), but unless classic Van Halen is able to go all the way with a reunion (new material, live performances that smack of effort), they're better off leaving the legend alone.

Ed's just damaged goods. Mostly self-inflicted. All too content to coast along towards a meager payday in front of half-filled arenas.

It'd be a shame to see Dave attach himself to an attitude such as that.
