Im sure Young is still with hi as well. Dave should be making calls to unemployed guitar players and drummers. Hey, I wonder what Poison is doing now-a-days? :D

Agree totally!!

maybe not unemployed musicians, but rather make some phone calls to record execs and surround himself with a better class of business people. His band now is tight. Young is hot on that guitar and makes Ed look like the pupil instead of the teacher. But I think Dave should stop doing the covers and classic VH. Maybe on tour open up with Unchained and close with Jump or Panama but everything else should be original Dave music. He needs his new band (or current one) to be called something other than "Diamond Dave" or "DLR Band".

Lowrey said DLR Band record was just project done in Dave's basement... for whatever reason Dave didn't take the show on the road plus it wasn't moved with any major labels. That left Lowrey to head off and dance with the dark side until his clean living lifestyle clashed too much with Marilyn...
There's either something where Dave is at in life that's not driving him to venture back out into the rockin tunage or maybe it's just he can't ink a deal big enough for him to get motivated behind... who knows?
Current DLR band members have stated they've presented original rock material to Dave during the Diamond Dave sessions but it was passed over for some reason in favor of the copy tunes and rehashed Vegas days material... Go figure? Maybe Dave is saving it for when he finally gets married or some shit..?
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
I have heard from some sources that Dave has about 2 albums worth of rock material that could be used for new albums. Also I heard that he wanted to forego the major label thing when the DLR Band album was released because he thought that the hype from the split with VH would be enough to generate significant sales and garner some radio airplay. Of course this didn't really pan out. Now my sources could be wrong of course but this all sounds logical to me. And as much as I love Dave he has miscalculated things like this before. A major label or subsidiary would have been the better route in terms of marketing to a large audience. It almost always is. Although I like "Diamond Dave" I thought it was not really a great idea in terms of marketing to do a covers album. I've come to the conclusion though from interviews, observing past actions & meeting Ron Wikso & Ray Luzier that Dave just does things on a whim. Whatever and whenever he feels like it. I don't think money is an issue and although as fans we want him to release an album and tour every year I can understand why he does whatever he wants. That is the greatest gift money can give you. And it seems to me Dave is taking advantage of it.
Think the days of Dave moving significant quantities of new albums are behind him.
Has little to do with quality. Might sound simplistic, but the majority of the 18-30 year old record buying audience just missed the boat as far as Roth went, and probably look at him as a relic of a bygone era.
Outside of getting back together with Van Halen, would hazard a guess that Roth won't break gold as a solo artist on any future releases, and even a reunited Halen wouldn't do much more than 1 or 2 million copies of a new full-length album. Would bet a sizeable percentage of people that were into the band in the early 1980s (when Halen albums were flying off the record racks) don't even listen to them anymore.
not too mention internet downloading. Dave doesn't see much $$$ in producing his own albums as much as he thought he would've. (im guessing thats why he started doing it to save cost) Dave might very well be waiting for the inevitable phone call from VH camp to make a major impact. perhaps thats why he's been silent about their reunion and tour? Im still thinking he'll close the tour off. Maybe 2 or 3 dates.

David just needs to take some time with a new album, record everything great with a great mix, great vocals, great packaging, everything, present it to a major label, get some good representation and legal advice, and take the show on the road. So long as there's a good backing behind it (not the shuffle around him WB did ALAE and thereafter), there's no reason it won't hit.
