It’s a milestone celebrating a milestone; American rock ’n’ roll icon David Lee Roth is hitting the big 5-0, and for half of those years he’s lived a lifetime. In the spirit of Dave, the night will feature flash, style and substance.

Unchained, The Mighty Van Halen tribute will be performing a “big-rock” solid set list of Roth-era VH and some of the legendary frontman’s solo material. Unchained has earned a sizable east coast following behind the dead-on Roth impersonation of singer Ricky McCoy; whiskey-saturated voice, high kicks and all.

All night long, the creators of the “It Ain’t Van Halen Without David Lee Roth” campaign, Mike Casale and Ron Albanese, will have tons of David Lee Roth-related giveaways for the celebrants in attendance. The giveaways include items from Magna Carta Records, Warner Brothers Records, and several others to be announced. Oh, yeah -- they’ll be selling their shirts too.

“David Lee Roth has been one of the most colorful, full-of-life and larger-than-life entertainers of the last twenty five years, and we’re putting on a party that he would be proud of,” Casale promises.

For anyone living under a rock, David Lee Roth’s visionary creative drive has sold over 40 million albums in the U.S. and earned him legions of fans around the entire world. Diamond Dave’s role in building the ’80s burgeoning music video scene gave birth to some of the most memorable and entertaining music videos of all time, both in front of and behind the camera. His concert performances and road tales are the stuff of rock legend. From a string of sold-out tours fronting Van Halen to this Summer’s nationally televised live performance before an audience of 500,000 on July 4th, David Lee Roth is still the frontman to whom all pale in comparison. Especially Sammy Hagar.

Real Van Halen fans can’t help but take shots at Roth’s laughable replacement in the band, and now they may be able to do it literally, as there will be a life-size piñata of the sub-par vocalist present.

In closing, pro-Roth sloganeer Albanese stated, “Even if I don’t get first crack at that piñata, I am truly honored to help stage this event. David Lee Roth is a universal rock treasure, and a true star.”

Can't believe the Diamond one is going to hit the big 50! So there's still hope for VH, maybe when he hit's 57 VH will take him back like Sammy.

I don't plan on being at the celebration but it's great to know that Dave is still rocking after all these years approaching 50 speaking as an old VH/DLR era fan.
