    Van Halen reference

Sorry if this has been posted before. I haven't been on very much lately. I'm just curious if anyone caught the Van Halen reference in Bowling For Soup's "1985" video?

Not really into new music, except Velvet Revolver, cause Slash lays down some cool solos. Trying to get tix to the Megadeth show in Philly on the 12th. Anyway, I was up late this weekend and I saw the video. Its funny as hell, considering its a new band pretty much pissing on MTV knowing they'll have to play it. I don't watch MTV or Vh1 nowadays but flipping through this weekend I thought they were playing Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" so I stopped and this kid is mimicing him to a freakin T. His band is dressed like the chics in the video. They dress up like Motley Crue and they have Tawny Kitaen dancin on the hood of a Jag. Anyway, if you haven't heard it, its on Launch.com. I thought its cool they don't mention Roy, they just say, "Who's that other guy singing in Van Halen"! Its a novelty tune for sure but the chorus makes me laugh because they say, "When music was still on MTV"!

    What's the deal?

I was wondering if anyone was ever going to notice that.

It has been noticed before, yes. I haven't seen the video, but I've heard the song. Seems like all bands influenced by VH like Roth. There's that Justin Hawkins quote too, about DLR and Sammy........
Moving webhosts & will be making changes to the picture hosting - watch this space..

            Here you go:

"Van Halen had a frontman in the old days that did all that gymnastics and stuff, and as soon as they chucked him out they became crap. Even though they're essentially playing the same music, Van Halen are *bleep* rubbish because David Lee Roth isn't in them anymore and the thing that he brought to the table was pure flamboyance. And that's what I get off on."

yuppers...noticed it, loved it and downloaded it 'cause it's obviously a pro-Roth song. (Back off legal eagles....downloading is legal here in Canada....)
