    Why hasn't DLR released a pro-shot Concert?

Considering Dave was (and still is) the Toastmaster General for Rock n Rawl, you'd think
he'd jump on the DVD bandwagon and give us at least a retrospective of his VH/Vai/Solo
years in a nicely loud Home Entertainment package.

We know he's a consumate businessman, but even Ozzy releases video of his ever decreasing
talent as a singer/performer. What is Dave waiting for?

(And I don't mean 70 hours of camouflage/midget/mindfuck videos around his Pasadena estate.) I mean LIVE in your face stuff. It's been a long time since that 1986 Eat Em and Smile 30 minute video.

Because of Ed maybe? He plays a lot of VH at his shows and Ed might not let him release it because he's selfish. Also, he'd need to have had the footage recorded from back whenever knowing that he'd use it. He might not have recorded anything as he may not have been able to use anything he did record.

Or he just hasn't got round to it yet.

VH released live videos with Dave era songs, so legally I am sure Dave could release a video with VH era songs.

          The videos must exist.

He could, but if he had to record it, then he'd have to play a show or a tour to collect the footage. And for videos, large crowds and huge arenas or whatever are better. **In a quiet voice** I don't think Dave could get an audience big enough with just his solo career. Fuck, there'd be loadsa Classic VH fans like ourselves there, but maybe not enough. But hey, if a sheep is gonna come in here and say something about that, then all I can say is that VH couldn't do it these days either.

This has actually been debated over a few times...what I'd really like to see is a double live DLR CD with all the material on it...Van Halen songs can be credited as being written by:

                David Lee Roth
                EVH
                MA
                AVH

                That'd be cool.............

I would love to see Dave release a DVD that captures his entire solo career. A documentary style release that has all the videos, some live footage, and a couple of new clips to help promote it. He may well be planning to do something like this to coincide with whenever his next album comes out. It would certainly be a lot more colourful and interesting than the appallingly put together BOV1 DVD.

Come on guys, I've seen Dave beyond VH, he must have all kinds of LIVE footage.

He was fabulous with Vai and Sheehan ( I met these guys at G3, they are so humble and great), I'm fucking sure that Dave, being the savvy businessman he is, would WANT to once and for all let the world know WHO THE QUINTESSENTIAL showman is.

(I'm sure even Pee Wee Herman has a home video or two)

That would be funny. Of course that's stooping to the other guy's level I guess...

Pro shot live footage from the Vai era would be real cool.

I remember The Skyscraper Tour where Roth dropped down from the ceiling during Skyscraper and Steve crawled across the stage during his solo and Dave did the Boxing Ring deal at the other end of the concert hall, as well as the flying surfboard.

Even during ALAE and YFLM his "banter" and singing was typical Dave.

"I could feel her breath sliding through my button fly on my 501 Levis'!

                            Classic stuff and totally Dave.

The 2002 tour had several dates that were pro-shot in their entirety and are being traded. Looks like footage that was projected on the video backdrop behind nthe band, mixed in with various No-Holds-Bar-B-Que clips. Have traded for Camden, NJ and Hartford, CT 2002 shows.

Have no doubt Roth has plenty of classic VH and solo Roth footage on ice, but agree that the legalities of releasing any of it are why none of it has been put out there.
