Yeah well it's not like ADKOT didn't have plenty of material from their heyday. I think "Big Trouble" was slated for what, every album back then and just could never make it on one of them?
"As Is" and "Honeybabysweetiedoll" could also fit right on WACF. Those two are the highlights of the album; they challenge you with their lack of tonality the way many of the WACF songs do, just brilliant.Comment

For me, it's mostly been like this for a long time:
Van Halen
Fair Warning
Women & Children First
Van Halen II
Van Halen
ADKT
1984
Diver Down
....though I gotta add that despite 1984 and DD being down to #6 and #7, I really love both those albums a lot. And I genuinely rate ADKT highly enough to put it ahead of them both.
DLR solo:
Eat 'em & Smile
A Little Ain't Enough
DLR Band
Skyscraper
Crazy From the Heat
Diamond Dave
Your Filthy Little MouthMusic is like girlfriends to me; I'm constantly amazed at the choices other dudes make----DLRComment

I think ADKOT - as an album - is the best from the 7-pack.
Don't get me wrong, there are many better songs on previous albums. But as a complete piece of work, ADKOT is better. Older albums were thrilling but uneven, with many tracks to skip. In ADKOT there's only one track I skip most of the times, and it's Tattoo. The rest is absolutely great.Hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla boobuhla hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla bopComment

Oh snap (do people still say snap?). #1 is easy....the others not so much....
1984
VH I
VH II
Fair Warning
ADKOT
WACF
Diver Down
I really am just waiting to properly rank my favorite Van Halen albums 1-8
*and while Diver Down is #7, if that was the only VH album I could have, I would still choose it on my deserted island over any other band pretty much. It's like trying to tank your favorite God miracles. Shit man, they're all fucking miracles!“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. ADKOT is an amazing album.....I won't disagree with you there but the older albums were thrilling but uneven with many tracks to skip? Man, I respect your opinion 100% but VH is the only band that I never had to bother skipping tracks with.....untill 1986.....then I skipped being a fan again untill 2007.
I get what he's saying. Not that there are bad tunes to skip...but you have the great gems that stand out & you skip past some of the others to get to those Unchaineds & Romeo Delights. ADKOT seems non-stop from 1-13. Doesn't let you come up for air.
Air is overrated anyways.“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”Comment

I used to feel that way about WACF (skipping tracks to get to In A Simple Rhyme) and after a long time, everything clicked and it emerged as my favorite VH album. Hell, the original six are so short that even the songs you don't care for, why bother skipping them.Comment

Air is overrated Sadaist, and your right.....ADKOT is very easy to listen to....hands free listening.....just push play and enjoy. and I agree with you Lou as far as personal favorite VH album....WACF to me always seems like Van Halen's version of Zeppelin III. Different from the first two, and transitioning to a slightly different sound.Comment

Yeah, I could agree that WACF, Fair Warning, Diver Down, and 1984 are all uneven with two tiers of tracks. I think in time I'll feel that way about ADKOT also.Comment

I think WACF is my favorite as well. To me it has the best VH songs and the worst VH songs. I don't care for LOC or EWS. Those are my two lowest ranked VH songs. Cradle is in middle. Fools, honestly is not the greatest song, but the intro is one of the best things VH ever put on tape. Romeo Delight, Take Your Whiskey Home, Could This Be Magic, and In a Simple Rhyme are all Van Halen at its best.Comment
