I stand corrected. "Fabulous shadow" it is. I can't believe I have been listening and singing that line incorrectly for 30 years.

I can't make those two sound remotely similar in my head.

I can't believe Dave would have the "hots" for a chick with a mustache!

I always took it to mean that Dave had the hots for a "chick" with DSL. DSL that were so pronounced that they created a shadow.

I think your premise is flawed, with so many considering Fair Warning their favorite CVH album, it is an appreciation of the whole - not just unchained or ? song ..

I do think the lyrics were touching on a then recent trend toward porn and selling of sex on film as a commodity, which was cheesy films in the 70's with few 'stars' and FF to today - with internet filled / overflowing with porn, or g/f pics - even sexting among kids/tweens ..

seems a cautionary tale in hindsight (- cross between Warhol 15 min fame, Zepp's Rock n Roll, (tellin' a friend she gonna be Star), and how does a chick get fame w/o talent, just beauty ? sexploitation )

                    with outstanding music

Most under rated still seems to be Simple Rhyme - that one has it all - GGB never comes up during mention of 1984 either, the video songs get all the attention

                    all good stuff imho

Dirty Movies is one of my favorite VH songs. I love the passion, the sleaze, and the funkiness of it.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

Don't forget HOP, either. It has one of the two great outros on 1984.

Well put. You mean Black Dog though.

Roller Girl in Boogie Nights fits the character you're describing.

Unrelated side note: Oldies station playing DLR's California Girls as I write.

No such thing. Love it from start to finish. Each track has little nuances I love and never tire of hearing.
