Go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Click on the......hosts.....file or open it with Notepad.
Type in.....
127.0.0.1 trafficrevenue.net
127.0.0.1 click.icetraffic.com
127.0.0.1 pasadserver.com
Save it and no more Ads

This isn't a Windows vs Mac issue, as it's all web based spam. Now whether the native Mac browser "Safari" might have better built in controls for that sort of shit than Micro$hit Internet Explorer is another story. I'm not a Mac user, and Safari's Windows version pretty much sucked, so I only used it for about 5 minutes, so I'm no expert on that browser.
Firefox with the AdBlock Plus and NoScript plugins will save you a lot of headaches. For you Chrome users, keep in mind that Chrome, being a Google product, doesn't make it easy to block the shit that comes from Google, and DoubleClick, the spammer responsible for much of this crap, is now owned by Google.
There is an alternative though..... Comodo Dragon is a Chromium based browser without all the spyware crap that Google builds into their own version. If you like Chrome for the speed, you'll like this even better.
I stick with Firefox because the Chrome version of AdBlock won't work on video ads (YouTube, Hulu, etc) but aside from that, the AdBlock & NoScript plugins for Chrome (fully compatible with Comodo Dragon) work very well now.Eat Us And Smile

The host file solution will work, just make sure you keep your host file under 100k though, or it will actually slow down your browser. So if you had to keep adding sites to the host file that you wanted to block, for example, it could add up quick.Eat Us And Smile
