I haven't seen any porn yet, but I've kept this new computer porn free so far. Sure miss fisting.com though!

Whatever tonight's big news is I'm sure doesn't pertain to me; so, I'll check back in a few days and see if everything's cool again!
    Same ole song and dance...

But is it my computer or is it the board that's getting slow?
Mine has stopped and started a couple of times today.

        Oh dear.

The hosts file will work. Your browser is forced to look for that server
on your PC, which of course it doesnt exist. This technique has been used
by top networking engineers since IP netowrking was invented.

VA if you tried that and it worked, then stopped working,
checkout your PC, the hosts file is a favourite target of virus/spyware/malware.

A non techie person like me is having all kinds of trouble with this..... is it going to attack my PC, even if I don't click on it?

If you're running Firefox with the plugins mentioned above, or have the hosts file configured as previously described, you'll never see it. If you don't block it, worst case scenario is that your computer slows to a crawl while all this shit is loading, and your dogs see something they shouldn't see.

As far as I know, there's no permanent damage to your computer from this crap. Just annoyance.

The only other thing I can think of, regarding the hosts file, is that you should probably reboot after modifying it. Firefox will automatically prompt you to restart the browser, if you add the plugins.

We're good then, thank you. I'm used to being annoyed and the dogs don't give a shit.

Yeah, good point, although closing all browsers and then reopening should force
browser to look at modified hosts file, but if you are running a non MS browser, reboot
would be good advice. I would recommend editing that file with all browsers closed,
and make sure you save it exactly as you opened it, dont save it as .txt file or
else it wont work. Overwrite the original with no renaming or filetype changes.

The code seems to be in the footer which in vBulliten is probably a separate include file and probably has a few different scripts that contribute to "rendering" the final footer section.

The code is literally embedded right after the "Archive" link on the footer menu at the bottom of the page and it's that one script that seems to be fucking responsible for all this shit.

Find out what's gotten into the footer and there's the culprit.

                      hope that helps..

Also just thought of something, for those that HOST's file works then doesnt.
The hosts file is a windows system file, if you have the windows "auto restore system
file" or any sort of auto restore function running, it will auto magically set it back the way it was before
you edited it... VA, this could why yours worked/didnt work. I would think Win7
would have that system file restore feature on by default.

Sorry guys. I have been at work all day long. I just checked the footer file, and indeed... it was hacked into.
I removed the javascript and it looks fixed.
I now need to find out what happened
