    Most Underrated Guitarists

So who does everybody think the most underrated guitarists are?

Obviously nobody in their right mind would come in here and say Uli Jon Roth or Michael Schenker. Let's make this about guitar players we all know who get no to little publicity.

    I'll start with these few:
    Frank Hannon - Tesla
    K.K. Downing - Judas Priest
Tracii Guns - L.A. Guns and Brides of Destruction

He gets left out of all the "great guitarist" conversations.

I don't know how good he is now but back in the days of LA Guns being relevant on their live video he did the ATBL riff as part of his solo spot and played it incorrectly repeatedly.

I don't see how someone who is dumb enough to play a classic riff each night to thousands of people, half of whom would be guitarists, and fuck it up every time without even realising, can be described as underated.

I did like the first LA Guns album though...

      Cheers!

Randy Hansen. Former Hendrix impersonator, and indredible live guitarist.

He physically resembles Jimi facially, and can recreate anything Jimi ever played live. He released one album on Columbia Records in 1980, and I saw him on his 1981 tour.

The single greatest guitar showman I have ever seen, yet he is living in obscurity.

And here are Frank Marino's comments about him:

He is obscure enough that I can find no up to date info on him. All the web info I can find is at least 3 years old....

              Neil Geraldo.

Saw Pat a couple summers back and he just flat tore it up.

Sweet lil' Pat did too.....If anything, her voice has gotten better.

I always used to drool over Pat's mouth. I would surely like to give her a meat popsicle to suck on...

Oh, and another underrated guitarist in my book is Pat Travers.

When talking about guitar greats, EVH and Jimmy Page come up, but why Michael Schenker never does, is beyond me.

I got into Schenker way late in the game.. I was 15 working at a Veterans thrift store and this older guy who was the donations pickup driver had a <UFO> tattoo on his bicep - I asked him if he believed in ufo's and he gives me the strangest look, "You mean to tell me you play guitar but never heard of UFO? Well, you BETTER."

I saw schenker at NAMM last month, being a fan now for many years since the thrift store. Nearly in tears the full show, then I met him and got to shake his hand. Signed a poster and everything for me and it made me feel those same raised-neckhairs feelings as when I got my first UFO 8-track of "Phenomenon".

The man's a class, class act and why he's not considered in most "guitar hero" circles makes him to me the most UNDER rated guit-pedaler I can possibly possibly think of.

he might be a wee bit wet , but he's written some of the best rock songs ever and when he's not throwing up in nervous anticipation he can really let rip
