        Good call!

The songs on "Sticky Fingers" were originally worked on when he was in the band.

        DLR7884
He didn't get any credit for them though, just like DLR's songs on 5150.

Jake E Lee is one of those guys who had his own style and I think is underrrated. He came out in the middle of the "Eddie" clones and did his own thing. He had to follow the great Randy Rhoads with Ozzy and still made his stamp. One of the few guitarist of the eighties that did not use the "tapping" technique to get recognized but still kicked ass!

            Ernie Isley deserves a mention.

Usually you don't think of an old 60's R&B group as a source for outstanding guitar work, but then, that's where Hendrix got his start.

I never even knew the Isley Brothers HAD a guitarist until I got the "Toronto Rocks" DVD (performances from the SARS-stock concert in 2003). My guess is that Ernie knew he was up against some legendary competition that day (Randy Bachman, Alex Lifeson, Angus & Malcolm and Keith & Woody) so he brought his best.

Listening to this guy play, it's not hard to tell who influenced Prince.

Bachman was pretty damn good at that show as well. Did this tapping with a drumstick thing that was about half Page/half EVH.

Why is Nugent's solos always rated worst of all time? He doesn't get very much credit for his guitar work.

                      I never understood that myself...

Nugent was an awesome guitar force in the 70's...

Phil Keaggy - (he's the guy on the right of the photo - but his singing voice sounds a lot like the guy on the left)

Probably the most under-rated guitarist in the history of music. Even Eric Clapton reportedly has said so. When Clapton was asked how it felt to be the best guitarist on earth, he replied "I don't know. Ask Phil Keaggy"

This guy can play anything from classical to jazz to hard rock. Unfortunately, a lot of his recent work seems to be on the mellow side.

And the only reason this guy doesn't get any credibility from the musical "establishment" is because his lyrics almost always reflect his Christian faith.

But it was always his God given talent on the guitar that got my attention.

Download samples from Phil's website here!

Neil Young is pretty over-looked as a guitar player, but anyione who has ever heard "Like A Hurricane" knows musical nirvana.

oh, and richard thopson is pretty shit-hot.

That's the beauty of his guitar playing!

A guitar teacher would be sent to the hospital with his playing and technique, but man it can transport a soul.

I totally agree with you, Ford. Ernie Isley, though not a virtuoso of the guitar, really added a lot to their sound in the 70's. Songs such as "Voyage to Atlantis", "Midnight Sky" and of course "That Lady" showcase his ability to sustain and bend notes with much feeling.
