So they showed a weekly highlight show tonight in the US...i'd forgotten how much I enjoy watching Aussie Football!
Last time I watched a match, the guys calling the goals all wore white coats and white pointy hats...most of the ones I saw tonight had yellow shirts and hats...they look like pizza delivery guys now.
Help me out with some rules, (sorry if these have already been asked in this thread, I dont feel like reading 15 pages...)
I understand you get a free kick if you catch a kicked ball.
How many steps can you take before you have to bounce the ball? And what is that called when you bounce it? Dribble?
How many steps can you take before you have to pass it? And what is that called when you pass it? Volley?
There is no defensive interference? You can just mug a guy standing there waiting to catch the ball? Me likey.
Some highlights from tonight: Some guy #20 with black and red striped socks made the SICKEST catch I have ever seen! He jumped up, KNEED his teammate in the back of the head to get more height, caught the ball and came down hard on his shoulder...
ok, one highlight...
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"

G'day PA..
I willl try and help ya here..
You have to either bounce or touch the ball on the ground every 15 metres when running with the ball. Its called a "bounce"
If you catch the ball (providing nobody touched it in flight and it
travelled more than 15 metres) its called a "Mark" you are
awarded a free, unimpeded kick, Play is stopped until the kick
or handpass is made.
In Aussie Rules you can pass the ball in any direction, no such
thing as a forward pass .. In fact you can pass it any damn
direction you want !!
To pass you must either kick, or handball (Punch the ball out of
your palm) to your team mate. Throwing is not allowed...
Neither is just handing the ball to your team mate..
Defense..
Sure we have defense. But due to the 3d nature of our game
its probably not obvious like your gridiron or rugby defensive
lines..
You can tackle a player anyway you like, but are not allowed to:
- Tackle too high (the head or the neck)
- Trip
- Kick in danger (kick the opponent in the head etc)
If you tackle an opponent and he makes no effort to
get rid of the ball, you are awarded a free kick. This is
always accompanied by a loud scream of "BALL" by the
tackling teams fans...
Theres heaps more to know, I hope I helped, this is
a good link
Essendon played well. Possibly should have won that one.
Did you guys see that deliberate out of bounds by Mooney?
What is the point of having that rule? It's too fucking grey and the umps only pull one out once in a while. And if a player puts it out intentionaly over 40-50m the crowd cheers, but if it's 5-20m it's deliberate. The rule makes no sense. The umps gotta be a mind reader. We have to come up with something else. Any ideas? It drives me mad!

Im hoping we did better on our tipping this week !
Mate,I'm with you that we have been on the nose a bit this season, however on friday night I've never been prouder. If not for injury and the martians rearing their ugly heads at critical times I thought we would of and should have won.
Would've and should've at the end of the day don't get you 4 points however.
Mooney was plum deliberate,if that was a Crow player then for sure he would have been pinned.
The Carlton faithful are starting to turn on each other,Fev and Lance's futures hang by a thread and Campo has become the Blue's supporters new whipping boy.
How fucking good do The Demons look?
Yes, Melbourne look a chance to go all the way no doubt about it. Although, this season is so open there's probably 5 or 6 who could end up with the flag.
As far as the blatant Moony out of bounds is concerned, I don't even care that it was against the Crows. I honestly get just as pissed off when those kind of decisions are made in any game. Same with soft 50m penalties.
Here's my Round 13 tips. Now this is a tough round! Could crash and burn here.
Port
Melbourne
Crows
Carlton
Brisbane
Freo
Saint Kilda
Sydney
Anybody want to share their AFL.com.au login info so I can watch some of the matches on the internet? They dont show them live here in the US...
