Well, McGwire basically has convicted himself in this hearing.

He'll forever be regarded as juiced by his non-answers.

Canseco and Palmeiro are looking the best in this whole charade.

Steroids hasn't ruined shit....the high ticket prices, the high salaries, the ME, ME, ME attitude of the players ruined baseball.

You guys are smoking crack if you think that Ruth, Cobb, and whoever else you can think of wouldn't have tried to get an edge if they could. Look at the NFL...they have testing, and every year someone gets busted for using 'roids. Cheating? I guess you could call it that....or you could call it, "trying to keep your goddamn job, because the teams and owners really don't give a damn about you unless you can perform."

Ok, I will say this...I do not and never have approved of atheletes using steroids as performance enhancers. However, I do understand how players can be driven to the point of using juice. I do acknowledge it is a problem that needs to be worked on...However, if other sports are any indication of the future of baseball, then I would say you will NEVER be able to have steroid free baseball.

Hell, it isn't like we didn't all know this was going on YEARS ago....I guess it just wasn't a problem until some of the homerun records started to be threatened.

Right on the money. Don't forget about watered down pitching, smaller ballparks, etc.

I never have understood the watered down pitching arguement. In the past 2 decades only 4 teams have been added and MLB has seriously increased the pool of pitchers to pick from by expanding their scouting internationally. If you look at the racial dynamics of baseball in the past 20 years, you'll notice a huge increase in the number of Latin American players. In addition, pitchers have gotten stronger (not only the hitters have bulked up) and there have been new pitches created that have made it harder for the batter (ex: 20 years ago, there was no split finger fastball or cutter).

Other factors include the juiced ball, and launch pads like Minute Maid Park, The new stadium in Philly, Coors Field, and Miller park.

                Water-downed?

You guys have to remember that when Ruth played, only whites were allowed.

                THAT was watered-down.

So are you saying whites can't play baseball?

A lot of balls that wouldn't have went out did because of the extra strength these guys got from steroids. Fuck Bud Selig, there should be asterisks flying all over the place in the record books.
blueturk's right. too bad they don't have a surgical procedure to implant some character and class in people like Bonds and McGwire
