Congrats to Freddy Sanchez, National League Batting Champion !!!!

Goes 2 for 4, ends up at .344....

A nice ending on an otherwise shitty season, again.....

So...who should the Pirates trade Sanchez too?

No, they're gonna give him an extension in the offseason....

Can't say the same for Castillo, a lot of talk that he's tradebait....

I suppose he pretty much has to...he's nowhere near close to being able to roll to free agency...

              The Pirates are fucking confounding...

it's amazing to me that they can't get a fucking owner in there that gives a shit...

if they just took a hit at the bank one year...for good players...just a couple...

              and they made a run...

and had a bit of marketing...

they could do something in that season...

It's really to bad the Rooney's didn't own that team as well...

Jim Balsillie, a Canadian businessman who's company created the Blackberry, purchases the Penguins...

and will be announced as the new Team Owner tonight in Pittsburgh.

                      Thoughts in a moment...

Of course...this doesn't become official until later in the year...

when the owners vote...but at this point...

it appears to be a done deal...

of course..."done deal," and actually being done are 2 different sorts...

Bettman wants the team to stay...

but says there needs to be a new arena...

there are currently 2 plans in the works...

Plan A is dependent on the slot license for the Isle of Capri, one of three vying for the license...

if they get it....they will use 290 million to build an arena and complex for the Pens.

But it's far from a guarantee that they will get it...

Plan B is a complicated sort...

                              but doable...

The Pens will front about 9 million...Plus about 3 million a year for naming rights...

both the other potential slot license winners have agreed to pay 7 1/2 million a year for 30 years to help fund the arena...and place their slots in the arena...

Another 7 million a year would come from the state...in a slots funded development program.

Of course...the part that's left out of this is who pays the bill up front...

                              Sounds doable...but again...in this saga...who knows...

Balsillie backed out of an earlier agreement when Bettman said that he had to try and keep the team in Pittsburgh...

since he wanted to move the team to Hamilton, Ontario.

Now...Balsillie says he will keep the team in Pittsburgh...as long as there is a new arena...

                                Bettman says the same thing...

it's as if they are reading off the same script...

                                and frankly...

scares the shit out of me...

If Isle of Capri gets the license...it's a done deal...

                                if they don't...

                                Plan B isn't a lock...

and may prompt Balsillie to quickly bolt...which is what he would preferably do...

especially..with the lease up in June...

                                What will happen?

                                stay tuned...
