                      Ok, sorry.

Well, half an hour before the gig started (after some god-awful support band had lulled half the club into a coma) they set off one of those smoke machines (I don't know what they're called) and left it running until NIN took the stage: basically, the whole club (a 3000 seater) was filled with this smoke, you could see about 20 yards and that was it. So when Trent an co. hit the stage, you saw the lights flashing and shadows of the band.

This was a really clever move, because NIN is over-powering normally, but through that visula it just blew my mind. Took about an hour until we could actually see Trent clearly.

They played for about 100 minutes, with everything I expected (although no 'We're in this together now' which surprised me). In terms of standout tunes, it's difficult to pick because the show was up there with the best I've ever seen, but 'Hurt' (which I'm not ashamed to admit brought a tear to my eye) and the couple of songs off Broken went down best, IMO.

Trent gave it eveything, only Henry Rollins is more intense: and his vocals were as per record, seriously, exactly the same.

And like I said, emotionaly charged: he still means it.

Van Halen 1 is in heavy rotation around the house of Spar-Tiki lately. Little Sparkie's diggin' "Ice Cream Man."
