Seriously, you wanna listen to something new(er) and good?

Go check out Yob - they just signed to Metal Blade a while back and they live about an hour and a half away from me...

My niece had me download thiese bands but I didn't really listen to them:
      Disturbed
      Cradle of Filth
      Slipknot
      Godsmack

There was so much good metal in the 80's, I am still finding bands that I never heard of. Just because it isn't new doesn't mean it's not new to me. I would suggest digging around old metal magazines and see if there were any bands that you never listened to. Probably better than most the stuff today anyways. Death Angel - Act III is excellent. Just gave that another listen last week.

Godsmack isn't really new, but they had a little bit going. Not much, but a little.

Cool. I'll download those & check them out. I was a little dissappointed with the new Judas Priest album, although there were some solid songs on there. Always looking for some new grooves. But not very many of them stick. Creature of habit I suppose.

I think Tool should hang it up.

OPETH is currently the best band in the world...check out me and Bob's thread about them.

Children Of Bodom and Tool work perfectly as well.

Don't say that too loud or Sammy Hagar might try to be their next lead singer. Think I'm crazy? Sammy overheard it in 1984 about another best band in the world and look what happened.

metal blade kicks ass, and i have to disagree about it all sounding alike... i mean at first it may but then again look at every musical movement out there....i could say that all hair metal sounded alike, all punk sounded alike, all rap sounds alike, all grunge sounded alike. its once you get past the "it all sounds alike" thing the music really gets it going for you

and a lot of people cant stand the screaming vocals, i was like that, but after awhile you learn to like it and even have prefrences and know when someone sucks at screaming

Did you hear Lopez is permanently out?

They replaced him with Martin Axenrot...

Decent choice, considering he's filled in the last, what, four tours or so?

I thought this thread was supposed to be about METAL, not some cheesy lame-ass nu"metal" bands...

                          RHAPSODY
                          EDGUY
                          DREAM THEATER

Stuff like that... and alot of other bands who are formed around a virtuoso teen guitar player but sound an awful lot like Stratovarius...

And of course there's the "old" bands that were WAAAY ahead of their time and can compete with today's Power Metal, no sweat:

                          BLIND GUARDIAN
                          VIRGIN STEELE
                          HELLOWEEN

                          THAT is Metal.

                          Cheers! :bottlE:
